Gothic 2 engine and PB

Hi, I was thinking for some time and name PB sounds very familiar to me, but
I just coudn't remember why. Did they make games for Amiga? That would explain everything (I miss those times!).
Also, maybe someone knows what engine runs Gothic/Gothic2?
Did they make their own engine or modified already existing engine?

Thanx in advance

p.s. sorry for my bad English, it is not my first language.

No. Piranha Bytes created Gothic and Gothic 2, I believe.

They built the engine from scratch. In fact, a large part of the G3 engine will be their own work.

I am also curious about scripting system. This is probably the
best scripted game I have seen, and I would like to know how did they implement
their scripting system. Did they use some help tools, LEX/YACC, C++ preprocessor,
or maybe they write their own high level language from scratch?
I know that it is pretty difficult to develop high level language that produce
optimized byte-code, and for game like this one speed is very important, so I am really
curious how did they do that. Any info about this is more then welcome.

TIA

Fans have started developing mods using tools provided by PB. You might want to do a google search and see if you can get hold of the tools for yourself, I am sure it will answer a lot of your questions.

The only problem with the mods when you create a quest is that you can't make voice reccording and you only read subtitles .

You didn't understand my question, I know they used C++ (or maybe C) when writing hard coded functions, but I am interested in development of their scripting language. And, of course, they probably used 3D studio for cinematics...
Thanx anyway, at least someone try to help.
By the way I am trying to translate dialogs in game with hexeditor in my language(Serbian) just for fun, but I did something wrong and game crashes.
