AI Ship navigation control

Is there any way to stop my AI trade ships from entering certain sectors?

My stupid TP ship keeps flying through Presidents End and getting blown to peices.

I cant afford any decent escort ships yet so that isnt an option.

That would be awful nice to have. Don't think it exists, though. The only thing you can do is attempt to micromanage it. Set the factory jump count so that it can't reach the deadly sector. Set "waypoints" (nothing formal- just break the trip into two parts) so that the shortest distance between start and end doesn't include a trip thru Sector Shipwreck.

How do you set 'waypoints', I seem to have missed that one?

You can't. He's talking about remotely controlling the ship and sending it to sector w and then y and then z .... so it doesn't pass through sector x and get destroyed.

Xen's interpretation is correct.

Question: If my Manta out trading has a jumpdrive and it gets attacked, will it use the JD to escape?

Not for a second, no. Besides, not an AI Manta in existence can stand against two Khaak scouts for the 10 seconds needed to jump.

I've started putting 15k shields on mine to keep the death count down. It has worked... a little. Probably not enough to justify the extra 100k cost... but it makes me feel a little better.
