Fallout - Brotherhood of Steel Interview at HomeLan
   

A nice <a href="http://www.homelanfed.com/index.php?id=13223" target="_blank">interview with Interplay producer Chuck Cuevas</a> about Fallout - Brotherhood of Steel for XBox and PS2 has been posted at HomeLan. Here's an interesting excerpt: <br><blockquote><em>HomeLAN - What other unique gameplay elements will be featured in the game? <br> <br>Chuck Cuevas - We incorporate a lot of Fallout elements that no one’s seen in a console game; likewise, we incorporate a lot of console elements that no one’s seen in a Fallout game. The combination of the two really makes for some of the best and most unique game situations. For instance, combat takes place in real-time. You can lock on to aim at one enemy more easily, or use standard controls, allowing you to swing/shoot in all directions with abandon. You can build up combination melee attacks by hitting an enemy multiple times in sequence, or use a special attack that takes longer to wind up but does more damage. You can even dodge out of the way of your enemy’s attacks. All this is pretty familiar for the console action gamer … but we combine these things with Fallout standards. Knockback causes creatures to get knocked around by sledgehammers and explosions. Players can improve their character and increase his/her skills, such as critical hits (doing additional damage). You can run headlong into combat or lure enemies into the mines that you set on the ground. Blending the simple easy-to-pick-up controls of a console action game with the diverse strategies and systems traditional to Fallout, we’ve come up with a game that’s really not like anything else out there.</em></blockquote>

What an innovation!!!!
That's truly unique in nowadays games!
Real-Time Combat... I wonder how game designers always come up with so new and unique ideas...

From Interplay forums, it seem this game cause huge outrage and uproar from Fallout followers, mostly condemning it as sell out.

I ain't no Fallout 'hardliner', but I gotta say sticking 'Fallout' on a generic 'mow monsters down with a big gun' indescreipt trashy looking game is a goof up by the marketing. what's the point of a franchise? it's a style and a type of thing associated with a name. two thumbs down. at least let the series die in dignity. but,, hey in the end it's just a game.

Don't care much about seeing another Fallout sequel. More interested in seeing a brand new RPG. But this really takes the crap cake.

@Saint_Proverbius, why is this game such a big deal? You've made comments on at least 4 sites...if you don't like it, don't buy it. Why make such a point about it?

It doesn't interest me but it *might* turn out to be a reasonable game - time will tell.

That's what most of the Jewish people living in pre-WW2 Germany were saying about Hitler before 1938; that he wouldn't be such a bad guy. That only time would tell how things would turn out. How wrong were they?
