mobs health? will I know if he is close to death? |
|
The subject lines says it all. How do I tell if a mob is close to death. I was on a mob using hand-to-hand for 30 min. and just gave up. I didn't even know if I was phasing him. |

you will know when he falls down. There is no indication of his health but his taunts, maybe. How well you are doing can be seen by your health _________________ Rendelius

so if I run into a mob, I just have to guess if I can take him and hope I am not trying to kill a lv 8 mob at lv 3...that kina sucks but I can see how it can be realistic, but at the same time you should be able to see if a mob is close to death, because that is a real life thing, but I will just have to learn the lvs of mobs and see if I can do this. bummer |

Like, if your a lower lever and wan't to get a tougher guy down, i use to save, then attack and see how close im to kill him before i die. Not very usefull in Morrowind it seems... |

This is one of the most serious design flaws in the game, IMO. We need *something!* Damage skins, numeric indicators, hp bar...every rpg on the planet gives you SOME type of feedback during battle.
And it seems that at least a simple bar or numeric indicator would be pretty easy to put into a patch.

Well I think you get some good indications what you can attakc and what not:
- NPCs are Wysiwyg, if they wear kickass armor they are probabgly not going to be easy targets
- It will not take long to figure out how difficult certain monsters are, but you will have to try them out first... adds some exitement the first time around
-Carful with those wimpy-looking robe-wearers, probably its a magician...
Feedback during battle:
- Bloodsplats when you hit and hurt animations: If you swing and swing and nothing happens you know you are in trouble.
- If you have insuffisient material to hit, its displayed on screen. Likewise with magic resistances etc I think.
- Your own healthbar and hurtscreen effect.
- NPCs will react according to how they judge your strength: Call for help, flee, taunt you and attack you themselves
I think its enough feedback, and actually will add some exitement in the long run, since taking on a new monster will always be a step in the dark. And I please, please nothing like a health bar or numbers that float above the NPCs head, thats so ugly and unrealistic! |

The other problem I had is trying to do a quest and knock some dude out and I didn't even have an idea how I was doing. Is there any other way to knock out a mob with out killing him other then fists? |

mob:(n.) [From 'mobile' or 'movable object', an old MUD code term]
