No, it can work in D3D games, too. Radeon 8500 owners have this options for all games (in the settings for their card), like FSAA.

True. I've been running DAoC and Gothic with 16x AF and 2xAA. I can't believe the improvement in image quality (and speed too, of course) over my old GF2! ATI's AF gives almost no performance hit (NVidia's implementation *chugs*), and their AA doesn't blur textures the way NVidia's does (although it's slower than NVidia's). DVD playback is awesome. The 8500 is the coolest upgrade I've done since I ditched my Voodoo for a TNT.
