I'm very excited for Call of Cthulhu, and it seems like its very true to the stories. I see it as more of an artistic interpretation of the stories than as an actual conversion of the stories to a different media. In any case, I'll certainly buy the game.

Thief 3 and Far Cry are high up on my anticipation list, and Half-life 2 is going to be UNBEATABLE. I'm very excited about what RPG developers can do with a complex engine for NPCs like the Source engine. Also, the DOOM 3 engine will be AWESOME!!! Another great engine for developers...now I'm just worrying about small-time developers being able to compete with these big engines from a technical standpoint.

STALKER is my pick by far. I can't wait to see how that game turns out.

Also, there is one game you didn't mention: TRON 2.0. If that game was on the list, I would choose it in a second.

no brainer, HL2
Call of C...I've been seeing pictures for that game on this site for well over 2 years (I hate when they hype a game nowhere near ready to be released) so whether it comes out or not...eh *shrug*

Well, more and more devs are licensing 3rd-party engines instead, which eats up less budget and time than building their own. I'm all for it, since it means the majority of a development cycle goes on content rather than technology. It's true that smaller studios may not be able to compete from a technical standpoint... and I don't think it matters, in fact I'm glad because it means we may be moving away from unimaginative technology-driven games...

...to make way for unimaginative marketing-driven games.
