Your guild options seem very reasonable Patriot, but what about Lee and his men? Also, mages seem quite obvious(whether of fire, water or necromancers). Other than that there are several I didn't really think of, such as the nomadic desert people.
I will probably go Nordmar first though, if they are indeed a choice. They remind me of Vikings! |

Didn't I already explain the new "guild"-system?!
To mix some of Patriot's post with mine:
You can think of it as if you are playing guildless all the time. You can choose to follow/help/"join" a certain "guild" by solving quests in a certain way, but you never join a guild in a way you did in Gothic 2. It's not that you need to become a Orc hunter (for example) to proceed in the game.
You will still be able to get specific armor, like Orc Hunter's armor. You just don't need to join them, maybe solve a quest or pay money.

And is the king dead allready
I don't think so, PB can come up with nice stories around the king, planning to take back his kingdom, etc.

Maybe because they are exactly the same I mentioned a few posts earlier?!
I think Lee will probably have something to do with the Rebels, or he doesn't have his own guild, that also an option of course. He can also have quests that you need to get him into the Rebels' camp so he can get the king.

There isn't a seperate magesgroup, like in Gothic 2. Here's the story:
The magic has disappeared from the surface, in other words you won't be finding scrolls next to every bush. However there will be three different kinds of magic in the game (most likely Innos, Beliar and Adanos). You will need to recover/find this power in some still unknown way.
Maybe be blessed after some actions by one of the gods and granted magic powers or there's some quest involved. Who knows... _________________ "Who are we to call this planet Earth, when it's clearly Ocean."

Yes Sem, it was the same as you posted, but I believe that was Patriots' point - he simply explained it(Assassins guild - etc etc etc, Nomads - etc etc), with a load of theory. It was the theory I agree too, seems logical that the guilds work in the way he has described. |

Perhaps the hero will seek the schools of magic in a way similar to that of the Avatar in Ultima VIII: Pagan?
I have to admit the fact that there's no knightly guild nor any mage-like guild to join sounds pretty negative to me. |

The rebels might be a knight-like group, after all it will consist of the king's most loyal people, which will mainly be soldiers and the king's personal guard. _________________ "Who are we to call this planet Earth, when it's clearly Ocean."

Read on the official forums that magic was gone, and a great line of quests(either main or side) will probably be to get magic. Most theories evolve around Xardas doing something to prevent the use of magic, or something similar. |

About the mysterious mage thing:
http://www.worldofgothic.de/gothic3/index.php?go=interview8
Magic will be not be a seperate guild like in the previous two games, but will be a job like gladiator, smith, hunter. This will allow you to become a mage, a fighter-mage of any class. You can decide for yourself how much magic you want to learn and it's not that you can't fight very well as a mage, that's just depends on how you develop your character. _________________ "Who are we to call this planet Earth, when it's clearly Ocean."

Hmm, Im a wee bit sceptical to this bit, because I like being able to make a pure mage, which would seem pointless if you could still be a warrior while going the path of magic. There is probably a way to balance it out though, so I will just wait and see. |

I much preffered the guild system in G2 to G1. In gothic 2 you knew exactly what you were getting. I was hoping gothic 3 would just greatly expand the number of guilds (as well as more sub-professions) but I guess not. |

Yeah, I was hoping to be a Magician of Fire yet again, I love being an arrogant, stuck-up, power-hungry spellcaster, bwahahaha. |

Is gladiator a profession?
Also im a bit confused as to how the guild or group thing is. is it that u can join more than one or u dont really join one at all but help them so to speak. _________________ O dirka dirka dirka dirka |

The new guild system is that you don't actually join one at all. You help them.
You can decide for yourself whether you help one guild and stay loyal to that group or help all groups a little just to be loyal to yourself and your wallet.
Although you don't actually join a guild, you can still get guild armor (like mercenary armor in G2).
Gladiator is indeed a profession and not a guild. _________________ "Who are we to call this planet Earth, when it's clearly Ocean."

As far as I know, if you help the orcs, you will become hated by humans over time, and the other way around. |
