Just thought Id agree with the other Swedes here, I never play or watch anything thats translated into english. Like Disney cartoons for instant, those are always translated into swedish, but those versions always stink.

Not to mention all the cartoons you watched as a child in english which now airs translated, they stink.

I just would like to comment on a few posts earlier. There 's been said that Belgium is a French speaking country. About 60% speaks Dutch just like in the Netherlands.
Another thing is that German although being an official language in Belgium can't be spoken by a reasonable part of the people(like me ), while English can. In the Flemmish part (Dutch speaking) you will find that just like in Sweden al English shows are still English spoken. There 's something called subtitles.

I just wanted to clear this mess up.

This usually happens. It's called the Stockholm Sydrome 2. When Swedish people have a written conversation their attention is distracted easily and they must find a new topic to amuse themselves. It's serious stuff, they have documentaries about the effect of SS2 on the youth of Sweden and the effect on the internet.

I only speak English, but I do enjoy watching movies with subtitles rather than getting a dubbed version of a film.

I know the French have passed laws to attempt to protect the French language from dilution (although I'm not sure this can work). Is there any danger of Swedish fading over the generations if english is so prominent?
