It adds a new mage class, several magic items, a new dungeon, and (once you beat Shadows) about another 30 hours of adventures and epic level battles in an awesome conclusion to the Child of Bhaal story.
It will be quite obvious, as when you complete Shadows of Amn you instantly start the next 'chapter'... which is Throne of Bhaal. _________________ Estuans interius, Ira vehementi

No, you can start a new game right at the start of Throne of Bhaal. Although you won't have all the really cool stuff you had at the end of SoA. _________________ Freeeeeeedom! Thank heavens it's summer!

You mean Gesen's bow string? I think that's in the Asylum dungeon on the level where you..., well I don't want to spoil it now do I. _________________ Freeeeeeedom! Thank heavens it's summer!

If you skip Shadows of Amn, you'll miss out on a bunch of cool things... not just items, but battles, NPCs, quests, dialogues, cut-scenes...
Just walk through them in order. They're not hard... but they're good. _________________ Estuans interius, Ira vehementi

I was going to give away a part of the story and I don't want to spoil it for you. It's in the Asylum dungeon. _________________ Freeeeeeedom! Thank heavens it's summer!

Well, I found them really, really easy... with the exception of the Mind Flayers and Beholders (Beholders are no problem if you have the Shield of Balduran, but without it...).
Mind you, I have been playing D&D for 15 years.
It was funny, really... Baldur's Gate reminded me of why I stopped playing D&D on the computer (Endless wandering, boring characters). Baldur's Gate II (which I bought skeptically) reminded me of why I loved D&D. _________________ Estuans interius, Ira vehementi

I am so glad to hear you say that. I bought the BG Original Saga, so I could play with a char all the way through, but I already had SOA and ToB. I thought I was spoiled, but now I'm just going to on playing BG II and forget BG. Period. _________________ "It has been a grand journey- well-worth making once."

I saw this in a movie about a bus that had to SPEED around a city, keeping its SPEED over fifty, and if its SPEED dropped, it would explode. I think it was called, "The Bus That Couldn't Slow Down."

The best thing that Baldur's Gate did was make enough money to show that people still wanted D&D computer games and make enough money for them to make a superior sequel. _________________ Estuans interius, Ira vehementi
