Another New Version...v1.0

New version 1.0 of the Optimizer is out with these changes:

-detect current indoor/outdoor status to prevent View Distance jump when exiting from the houses (caves, e.t.c.)
-View Distance auto lock then its major change to not affect FPS counter (useful while loading other towns so View Distance will not be to high on arrival)
-help file (+ context sensitive help) instead of usual readme file

Look for it at http://www.morrowind.nm.ru/

Well..

According to my experiences with the Optimizer, I have learned that the reason why your view distance is low is because the Optimizer is trying to give you a higher FPS. If you want an increase in FPS your distance must lower, so the Optimizer will decrease your Viewing distance for the sake of better performance.

I didn't like having a low View Distance and my FPS wasn't too bad, so I played around with the minimum Viewing Distance in manual, auto and common tabs, making sure they are all equal. I have found a minimum Viewing distance that allows me with sufficient view of the area around me and a good FPS rate just above 30 FPS. My minimum viewing distance value is 2250, while I allowed my maximum to be 14336(add 7168 to you maximum View Distance under the common tab). However, it varies with every different machine.

Good luck. Hopefully you'll find the right values for your game.

I got maybe... 1 or 2 fps more. And it decreased the view distance ALOT! It was like, fog all around me. Still no improvements.

I was using the automatic settings but I have found that using the mouse wheel is much better! Great addition to the program.

I scroll it way in when scooting around Balmora and scroll it way out when I'm slowly exploring new wilderness areas. Kind of unfair, but I have made a lot of money by soultrapping bull netchs from far away--I kill them before they get close enough to kill me. Difficult to do when set on automatic because the soultrap seems to disengage when they are completely out of sight, which happened a good bit when I had it on auto.
