Yup, i had great fun playing Quest for Glory 5 some years ago.

It is the feeling that you are not tied down to one ending. You can move around as you wish, and when you're ready to face the ending, you can. There are also ways to get out of the storyline, but still be playing the game. This is why i think RPG's are so incredibly good.
