German voice acting is NOT better. I thought so too, from the talks, but when I actually heard them, I found nothing better there. In fact, I found it quite dry. Heck, the actors speak there without ANY emotion at all! And while in english game all the dragons may have Xardas's voice, in german one most have Vatras's voice

But, G2 english voice acting is not as good as it was in G1 english version.

Are there any ways to install the German addon over the English version already at this time? Please give me a link or instructions, if that is possible

Here is a recent quote by Xerxes712,
quote:
There is a trick to install the German Raven over the original English G2...
add patch and viola! You got English text and subtitles with 70% original English speech!

Well, there's a way to do this, and the trick is to fool the addon installer to believe that the installed gothic 2 you're using is the german one ( v1.28 ) instead the international one ( v1.31 ).

And after installation, you'll get EVERY subtitle in german (there will be NO text in english in it, not even gothic 2 original ones),but the voices will be in english for the gothic 2 ones, and in german for addon's ones.

We're working on a translation mod which will make every text in game from german in english. The german voices will still be used toghether with the english ones. IF you don't install the translation mod for an addon installed over gothic 2 original german version, in which case you'll hear every voice in german.

you should replace that exe BEFORE starting the installation of the addon. and be sure you'll overwrite the original gothic 2 international version exe.

Cathyso,

So now you are saying that the German Gothic 2 executable *is* needed?

I thought it will be this weekend, but it won't. Most probably the next one we'll have a first test version, which will need testing in game for slight adjustments.
