Why can't Keller train me?

I started a new game in Ultima IX yesterday and haven't had any training yet. Whenever I ask Keller to train me, he says "Well, I can't train you yet. You're not quick enough and you'll get hurt if you try some of the maneuvers. Come back by when you are more agile."

On a related note, Leon is no longer in his shop because one night as he was coming home from the bar, he was attacked by one of those pirates that are in Britain and he ran away. Now he's near one of the street corners and whenever I talk to him he says something like "come back when i'm at my shop". How do I get him back in the shop.

For your first question, your dexterity is too low. You get a chance to increase any one of your stats every time you cleanse a shrine. I'm not sure about your second question though. It may be impossible, though. Ultima 9 is known for being horribly buggy.

Try leaving town and coming back later.
