hehe I never figured out how to kill that blue light thing. Is it a Will-O-Wisp? I don't know.

I got a Goblin Skeleton to kill it for me. I think the blue light thing absorbed itself into the skeleton killing them both.
It never attacks you unless you pull out a bow, so you can travel around with it like it's a pet.

It is! The world is HUGE. Exploring only will easily take many hundreds of hours. It's also more challenging because you will have to do quests instead of going through the demo exploits.

At least I quit Asheron's Call... I will have the time for Gothic 2.

By the way, is it true that we can «pay for women» in the game?

I see you're already planning. :p Yes for 50 gold some of the women can be yours and yours alone.

Finally managed to get "out" today (does the "demoground" remind anyone of the barrier from G1?). Found a slightly safer method that what Ghola suggests (unless I misunderstand, in which case this is just an elaboration of what Ghola suggests).

1. Go to the top of Xardas' tower

2. When outside at the top you will see a ledge on the pinnacle that is closest to the mountain. It supports the tower's "horns". Jump up to this ledge.

3. Walk to the horn that is closest to the mountain. In the mountain wall you will see a rather strange (deliberate, I'm sure) U-shaped ledge leading to the left.

4. Step onto the horn closest to the mountain (when in doubt, take the left horn). Now run and jump onto the ledge in the mountain wall.

5. Go left. Waaaay below you is Lester's 'secret' valley.

6. Walk until you reach the end of the ledge in the mountain. You may or may not hear the lizards PC mentioned (I had already killed them).

7. Now, in front of you you will see the two peaks (rocks) PC mentioned and only a bit closer to the ledge a rectangular piece of flat covered with grass. What I did was jump onto the flat area and from there jump between the two peaks.

What I'd recommend is: Follow above instructions through step 6. Now, walk don't run (i.e. use SHIFT to make sure you don't fall off) to get to the very tippy-tip of the ledge. Turn and face the cliff, still holding down SHIFT. Press ALT and you'll climb on top of the cliff -- no dangerous jumping. You can do this 100% safely every time. (I'd also recommend walking with SHIFT, not running, for step 4. Again, you can get positioned just right for the jump every time this way. When I was running, I missed a lot.)

From the top, you can find a place to the left of where you climbed up where you can slide down between two rocks.

I've read about another method to cross the barrier, in Khorinis, by climbing a lamppost. Can anybody tell me which lamppost this is? I think I've tried all of them, but can't figure it out.

50 gold... It's great. Now I have a reason when I kill and steal villagers.

Is there only one place where you can "rent" a girl, or is it a district?

Easier method to crossing the demo-barrier:

Go to where the 2 woman are. They're outside the demo grounds. There is a lamppost there. Walk until you're at an angle with the lamppost, then click ACTION on it.
You'll teleport across the barrier.

Don't look at the lamppost head on. You have to be at an angle.

The devs did this on purpose, so don't feel that it's a bug.

It didn't work for me, but maybe I'm doing something wrong. YOu are talking about the women that are standing near the blacksmith, and the guard Pablo right?

Thanks FF. Works for me. It's the lamppost that's on the other side of the "end demoground" sign. Had to try a couple of times but then it happened. Wish I'd known about this earlier! It's a long trip up to Xardas's tower.

At this point I think I've explored pretty much everything I can... after about 16 days of game time, with strength at 50 (legit, refrained from using the "berry" exploit), bow at 25%, and sneak, open locks, smithing, and skinning skillls... not bad for a demo However, I seem to recall reading something about a village you can save from some orcs... so I have a nagging feeling I missed something. Any clues on where this village is?

Maybe you mean the farm that you save from the rouges?

A lot easier way to increase your strength (mines at 30)
1. Do Matteos "Gritta Gold Quest"
2. Do Bosper's "Get 6 wolf furs quest"
3. FOr HArads "Get the Orcs sword Quest" Go beyond where you and Bartok hunted the wolves avoiding the shawdowbeast and bloodflies and get the orc scout to follow you to Khorinis's gate guards who kill it.
4. Speak to Constantino about joining another master.
5. Become a Blacksmith and lvl up 3 times
6. Increase your strength with HArad!
