So you strongly advise playing the game before the English expansion because it will change some game elements around? If I wait to get Gothic II until after the expansion, will that hurt?
Like Durlag's Tower added to Baldur's Gate didn't really change anything except added things, I thought that was what this expansion would do.
I would prefer waiting because like some others have said, I would enjoy playing the game as all the characters but with everything possibly added right off the bat, but if it actually "changes" things from the original, well I don't know then. |

The changes are mainly in chapters 1 & 2. If you play only the combined version you might feel overwhelmed because the number of quests was doubled. I sometimes had more than one journal page of open quests.
Some quests have more solutions. Many NPCs are better integrated into the game because they are part of the new storyline. Difficulty is a lot higher, if you run into a warg with a level 12 char you´re food.
I would play G2 with a mage and the add-on with a dragon hunter. If you reverse it. It will be even harder. Paladin is always the most simple char.
And no powerleveling please! Nobody says you should exterminate every lifeform.
