I´ve killed Gary at his home, since robbing the bank gives you a lot of xp, but inmeadiately after that the guards of Arx came to haunt me. I guess that´s due to a lack of stealth... can anyone tell me how much stealth is needed to kill Gary without having problems with the guards?...
Thanx a lot |

Stealth is not the problem so much as doing it where they can see you. If in his home, be sure the door is closed to his house. That should do it as long as you don't let him get to the door to open it once you attack. That sets off the alarm. _________________ =Member of the Nonflamers Guild=

thank you Cm for your reply. Well, the fact is that I kill Gary inside his house, where there are no windows, and with the door CLOSED. Of course Gary has no time to alarm the guards or open the door, he doesnt even scream. Sometimes a guard enters the room and sometimes I manage to get downstairs in the streets without been seen, but Alicia (gary´s girlfriend) just begins to shout asking for help and the guards of Arx seem to be aware. |

I also tried to kill Gary in his home (1) with door closed (he never got to his door one time) & guards, including King, knew anyway & everyone tried to kill me (2) with undead behind closed door - didn't work because then Gary & skeleton came after me! No matter what happens, the guards & king & everyone seems to know that I've killed him.
So, does anyone know if anything works? |

This is a real timing one. You have to do it in the part of the game where she is in the streets if I remember correctly. The simplist thing is to just hit him with confused spell, and run down there. Or catch her at home, kll, or confuse her, take her key to his house and go in when he is not home. Getting the key from her by stealing it is easier I think.
I never figured out the rhyme or reason to when who was home, and when you could kill one and the other didn't know. One good thing is you can do this later in the game when your stealth skills are up enough to steal from her. Good luck, hope this helps. _________________ =Member of the Nonflamers Guild=

He is home & door unlocked immediately after escorting shany back to her mother. But this is early in the game, and I was hoping to get some more xp's so I could rob the bank. I have put most of my xp's into technical, and now I think this is a bad decision. So maybe I'll go to a previous game, and redo some of this so I can reallocate those points.
Which is most important: mental, or strength? obj knowledge or technical or stealth or casting? Seems to me that you need high stealth & technical to rob people, but you can't ever get the range you need for things like robbing the bank! |

Don't have to reload for this one. There are plenty of other quests to finish first for new points.
Also you will find stealth items to wear, and there are items to buy to boost that skill enough to do this one. Just wait a bit and come back to it.
You have to decide the importance of the skills based on what you want your character to be. You need some of all, then specialize according to what you want to use. If you want to be fighter, stick to strenght, object knowledge and some casting and stealth. I always did a kind of 2 to 1 on them as I was fighter. Double the strength, double object, then one for all the rest until points are gone. Once I had strength up to around 14, I went to casting skills.
You just have to come back to some things later is the only problem. Did that make any sense? Well hope so. _________________ =Member of the Nonflamers Guild=

you could try going invisible and killing gary that way.. you can have a guard right next to you, and he won't say anythign if you're invisible.. it worked for me.. gary was in the bank.. i went invisible, went in, incinerated him, and then walked out. It took a number of goes, because somehow he senses that you're trying to kil him, and runs away whenever you walk into the bank or into his home.. but the guards and that bitch outside don't seem to notice..
of course, to incinerate, you need a fairly high casting ability.. and you can only do magic while invisible otherwise it wears off.. so i gues u have to know a fair bit of magic.. if you're killing him in the bank, make sure you can use the telekinesis spell, either with the runes or with a scroll.. otherwise you cna't get his keys off him if he's on the other side of that fence-wall thingy..
hope this helps _________________ Knowledge is the key to success.. but you won't unlock success unless you USE that key |
