Very strange sound error

Gothic would crash in the game about 3 seconds after playing so here is what I did.

I switched sound acceleration off in dxdiag and the game worked. Only it was very stuttery, the sound provider is then changed to "Miles Fast" Then I quit the game.

I siwtch sound acceleration on in dxdiag and now the game works perfectly.

However I have to do this every time. If I restart my computer and attempt to play straight away it crashes. If I first play with no sound acceleration the game will work with acceleration on the second time.

This is very odd and very annoying to have to do every time. Any clues?

Have a look at the gothic.ini. Maybe you can force the sound provider with a parameter.
