I have my characters to about lvl 11, but all those shoppies, namely the rapax in arnika, lord braffit in arnika, crock in the swamp, sardok in the t'rang empire, and fuzzfass in trynton just have the same damn things. i'd expect to, as i get higher lvls, find they have nicer and nicer stuff, but while i do find the occassionally interesting new piece of armor or weapon, i'm usually stuck with all the same stuff, which they never have enough of. Doesn't anyone ever show up with a good supply of expensive but awesome magic armor/weapons/etc? I think my fighter has a good mace, but it's the same one he's had since like lvl 7..same for my other characters..it's kind of maddening...has anyone else noticed this or am i still early in the game or something....

Most of the shop owners don't have great stuff. The blacksmith in the Rapax castle had good stuff though. But you don't get anywhere near him until later in the game. Most of the good stuff either has to be found or custom pieces that are made by a blacksmith.

Yes, Bela, she is nice and first time I met her, I was really thinking, what is she doing here? And then I saw that camp fire, she is simply capming there...

I know you know it,and you are teasing, but I have to write it again. He, He, He, He, He. According to the informations about "Him" you can find in the Umpani computers.Or some may even say "It" (Deamon, beast).

Most of the good stuff comes as a result of solving puzzles and quests, I don't think there's a lot of good stuff that's randomly generated in this game. The rings of protection from the bandits are nice early on, but basically you won't find lot's of good stuff in shops.

It's worth the effort to pay special attention to making 'unique' items offered by NPC's, there's a Rapax in Arnika that can do this, and there are probably others as well...

Danicek: The name sounds maybe like a she ?! But his deep voise certainly not.

Sir Markus: You right about "Unique" items, they are often usefull to get if you got the right characters for them. Actually some of them you can get made more than once if the ingrediense can be found more than once.
Regarding "good" items from shopdealers, I can agree that the most of them don't have very good stuff. Some of them will eventually get a little better items during the game, but there are two dealers in my opinion which really got some very good (and expensive) stuff: Bela in the "Mountain wilderness" and "Ferro" in the Rapax castle.

Another note about 'unique' items.

I've found several nice items for various character professions that I was unable to use, I found several nice items for bards, but since I didn't have a bard, I sold them not knowing I'd have the opportunity to have a bard join me later on; hang onto this stuff.

I sold it and can't remember where, the items may not even be available for purchase anymore...

You can try to get the materials for the special equipment (ask the shopkeepers about "custom" and they will spill all!) But you'll find many of the specials are b-plus items, at best. The one item I suspect might have been particularly useful (I found out about it far too late -- after I had sold off a key ingredient somewhere!) was the armor for faeries. My mage would have like that, methinks.

The vampire bats, do strangely not very often drop their wings, but I just for a few hours ago got mine in the Mountain wilderness. Not that this place got a lot of bats, mostly "Golems" and "Scorchers". Maybe I was very lucky. I alos recall the Mt. Gigas as the place with the best change to encounter vampire bats.

I was a bit miffed when I found out ninja's can't use that faerie armor. I'm down to a close-combat only, low-armor-class solo party At least I'm getting heaps of critical hits....
