oh, about scary things! Do not even remind me my first meeting with SKELETONS and MAGIC GOLEM when I was barely exploring the world in Khorinis, early level sucker, and to make it worse, this happened at night and all I could do was run for my life. The woods in the north (g2) are extremely dangerous, and scary too! all those wargs, skeletons and orcs hidden among the trees are giving me the creeps! Ever ventured there when you were like level 10-15 to hunt snappers and field raiders? You don't even have a slightest idea how GROSS it is when a warg is chasing you and than, to make it worse, you run into some more wargs OUCH I could only run for my life, but I fell and broke my ankle... of course they got me in the end. damn beasts are to fast. what an awful feeling it was but I will never forget such moments. I could have sworn my char crapped his pants back than. Well, so did I...

What makes Gothic 1/2 truly unique is the feeling of participation, or involvement, if you like. And tell ya, G2 managed it even better!
Remember what you feel when you meet old friends Lester, Milten, Diego, Gorn and Lee again? Or when you are about to leave Korinis? Or when you take a final walk back to the ship on the island? This is a one god damn good game that makes you feel events, not just play them!

In Gothic everything seems to be made with very much love for living entities. I like, that PB did not try to make monsters look very ugly or frightening or extremely strange in order to achieve a quick effect (what would have been easy).

What is more beautiful than a Gothic orc fighter? His form, these goldish things on the shoulders, the funny loincloth, the movements ... maybe they should smile sometimes ...

Orcs were cute specialy in the cutscenes
Orcs represented in the lotr were very different (and EXTREMELY ugly) compared to those in gothic. I find them cute, specialy the talking orc

I think Gothic orcs go perfectly with Gothic, while LOTR orcs are perfect with that. That's the way they were described in the books, and that's what was portrayed in the movies. I couldn't imagine 10,000 Orc Elite storming Helm's deep, could you?

Oh, I'll never forget how I spent so many hours trying to figure out what to do before I finally talked to Thorus and figured it out. And then, it took so long to get used to the combat controlls, I must have died 20-30 times on one scavenger alone!

Hehe, since I mastered combat controls I'm capable of bringing down an Orc warrior at level 10

Personally, I think beating orcs is pretty simple:

1) Lure the orc to a ledge.
2) Jump on the ledge
3)

a) Shoot the orc
OR
b) Wait until it manages to climb the ledge and knock it off again

4) Repeat as desired

This is very effective, but doesn't always work perfectly.

The dificulty is when more than one orc follows you, or it manages to climb the ledge and you can't knock it off... But if you're experienced with the controll scheme and other technical details, and are experienced, it's no problem to kill an orc when you're a low level. Well, of course that does not apply to Orc Elite (G2), or Orc Temple Warriors (G1), etc.

You could kill a troll on level 0 if you wanted to. You just exploit it's weakness.

You couln't do it at level 0, your attacks wouldn't even harm it. You'd need to have at least some skill in archery before you could harm it, even then it would be a waste. Heheh, I'll never forget the first time I killed the mincrawler queen in G1, I just pumped it full of arrows. Rrrr, it took so long ... Every 6 shots (or so) its hp would go down by a tiny fraction... I must have used over 1,000 arrows to get the job done
