I play FPSes like Val. Every once in a while I'll sit back and take my time but for the most part I run around with a halo of bullets and lazers.

It's really fun to show off in front of friends playing that way... at least when it works...

Shoot, not stab. With a sniper rifle, so I can be a looong way away... with a silencer on it, too... and camouflage... nice and safe

You should play Söldner. Buy a sniper kit and turn invisible... literally. The only guys able to see you will be those who think of buying IR glasses.
Oh yes, and we should have played the good old (pre-classic) Team Fortress together. You as a sniper (a class I never managed to play as intended) might have covered the main entry into the enemy's stronghold, while I had so much fun as a spy...
I had tons of fun lying around in front of the enemy stronghold's back exit back then, dressed up as one of our scouts, playing dead. When they finally noticed that sometimes a dead body would rise to pigstick them from behind, they started to shoot dead bodies everywhere. Then it was fun to dress up as one of their soldiers and watch them waste their ammo on deaders before getting behind them... and stabstabstab.
It was so much fun to play against inexperienced teams!

@Val: No, no, no. Nobody is going to backstab you... unless you are the enemy .

Yep, give me a sniper rifle and stealth anyday, people with heavy firepower learn the hard way.
Although you can get away with it sometimes, remembered playing the original Operation Flashpoint on single player. On one mission my whole squad got wiped out and so I did a Rambo with a M60 and got shot four times in the same position, survived and completed the mission.

Jaz, never played TF but I always thought the Spy was a great idea for a multiplayer game. Now my house & PC are approaching workable conditions again, I'll have to check out Soldner soon - is it still very buggy?

My hat is off to you, Captain Conan. In Op F, that is a superhuman acheivement. I hope you got four purple hearts, a Blue Peter badge and a St. Jupiter's Ankh (or whatever).

Eh, well I got a couple of gold stars and the last time I got those was in primary school.

@piln: Buggy? Yes. But after two patches it's pretty playable, provided you have a decent machine (something I don't have since a customer ran off with my new processor).

@piln: Do you honestly think mere distance would save you from my wrath?
