starting gover any suggestions???

I felt i had to start over because i didnt do anything with alchemy. i,m thinking of playing a mercenary again but this time with more alchemy and ofcourse huntingskills. i think i will go work for bosper, also i'm going in the thieves guild, maybe i should keep more to dex and bows
i would like to have opinions about which hunting skills are worthless and which arent and maybe some comments on my choice to pick this kind of character

thanks for your suggestions neo,

Well i dont like alchemy so much either but to learn it costs much less then the total amount of potions that can give dex and strenght. the sneakskill sucks when venturing in the wild but you really need it in town to lockpick the chests in the upper quarter when people sleep. i think therefore its worth to learn.

hunting skills on the other hand are sometimes worthless. taking teeth and claws gets in some cash but taking for exapmle the shadowbeast horn then you get 300 a horn from buster in chapter 4. the bloodflies sting and wings can be used in potions i believe, i dont know when why or what they do so if anyone knows how to use it...please tell me

No you cant use bloodflys sting or wings to make potions... you need plants for it... sneaking is the only way you can join the thives guild (they want you to steal constentinos ring) and pickpocketing is alsow good...

becose in the VoM you can take of the claws of a leader of the snappers and you will get a very good ring from a guy (don't know it's name anymore).
the ring wil give +5 at al defenses. (magic etc.)

while this thread has been well answered i thought i'd chime in with a few thoughts

as a merc the most beneficial hunting skills would be skinning, shadowbeast horns (not only do you get gold from buster but also an cp reward as well which, if you feel like it, you can use to get unlimited xp and gold) and the 2 dragon skills. personally i wasn't very interested in the rest as for a merc the trophies only result in extra gold which i felt i didn't need (and it enabled me to use the skill points elsewhere) and extra gold was provided with selling skins to bosper (keep the black troll hide for raoul though)

as for the general choice of character it's pretty much up to yourself as i had plenty of lp to develop dex, str, melee as well as a splash of ranged (personally i've never been too fond of ranged weapons as not only do i find that it takes quite alot of arrows/bolts to kill at an early stage but each shot effectively costs you 1 gold)

while some may not see sneak as terribly useful, i used it quite a lot in conjuntion with lock pick to pretty much rob every house i came across (another reason i never really felt a need to get more hunting skill for extra gold)

i'm sure most here would recommend alchemy if for nothing more than the permanent stat potions that become available with king's sorrel although it's not a skill that i'd recommend specialising until you have lp spare

as for learning to remove claws, you don't need the skill to remove the claws of the pack leader

cool, great comments thanks all, that of the packleader i didnt know i have to reconsider to take that skill then cause thats the only reason to learn it i think i still go for the bow it helps a lot when your dex is high ( i like to get the most out of thethieve skills) besides that it's really easy to kill groups of orcs later on (i know that with a sword it's easy to)

when learning alchemy can i learn permanent stats potions when i only learn the hp potions or do i have to learn al the mana potions as well?

my mercenary wil train first in a lot of diffrent skills, so i grow less fast, somewhere in chapter 3 or 4 you seem to become to strong and you can fight a lot of weak opponents then so i thin k it's good to start with some alchemy skills and hunting skills but im not gonna learn all huntingskills
are minecrawler plates of any use? i know that you can make armor out of them but dont know how? and what are the stats of that armor?

you can get the mony from reul and from bospar.. just give it to raul for what he have (dont argu) than after he gives you the potions and the money beat him up and take the black trolls hide... than just sell it to bostpar for 350 gp..
that way you earn 850 gp and some good potions.. [/b]

you must give 20 plates to wolf and he'll make an armour for you.
i think its something like:
weapon protection: 40
arrow protection: 40

i dunno about magic and fire...
