Is the stuttering OS related?

The reason why I ask is because I decided to change my OS and see what effect is has on the stuttering

With WinXP I get alot of stuttering around woods near the stonehenge type structure in the north forest and when facing a abandoned hunting camp.

With Win2000 the stuttering around the north forest and abandoned hunting camp go away.
The only place I get stuttering is in caves where roots are hanging from the ceiling. The stuttering in the cave doesn't happen with WinXP as the OS

Win XP can eat up ram. Try this link to shut down some of the extra programs that come with Xp but are not needed. It freed a lot of ram for me.http://www.blackviper.com/WinXP/servicecfg.htm

I have shut down the extra services it really didn't make any difference
I normally get around 45 -60 fps on Gothic 2. I also borrowed a 512 stick from a friend and took my ram from 1024mb to 1536MB I didn't see much difference.

This is what I used to tweakXP
