Gothic was a great game one of the best I`ve played in years in fact.
I was thinking about the dialouge problems in gothic
it was really funny the dialogue in the game clearly written by forigeners.
What I Don`t understand is why they didn`t ask an american to proofread their dialogue first. I mean I would be happy to proofread it for free
then you wouldn`t hear weird dialogue.
Like the one with that smith guy oh thanks for saving why did you? OH because I was in the castle and I heard you needed help so I saved you numerious other examples point made.
I hope they hire (or get me for free) to proofread the dialogue for gothic 2
hope they learn from their mistakes
One other thing in gothic 2 I hope they fix the dialogue choice problem when you are halfway through the game and you talk to an npc and the choices are still whos the boss.. whats the camp like..... the choices need to change on situation I hope they fix it
but even then I`d get gothic 2 gothic was great I`m sure the squel will be better |

Well, IMO, I don't think the dialog was too sloppy, in some ways, it was well written. The only beef I had with the dialog is this... During Ch 1, all the dialog made sense and applied to the happenings of the game world. However, midway through Ch 2 I began to realize that the dialog didn't change. Example, after I joined the OC and became an official henchman of Gomez the people of the NC still had the same dialog they did before I joined. So instead of hearing, "Get lost, we don't want your kind in our camp" you hear, "Hey, you're new here aren't you?" and still have the same old response options, "What can you tell me about this camp.." _________________ = Member of The Nonflamers' Guild =

I was always annoyed by the Where can i find so and so topic never going away. Youd think after a while i'd know where to find gomez and diego.

Foreigner or not depends on your home country. A well-translated game is an exception. Maybe they just didnīt have the 6 digit budget left you need for an adequate localisation. _________________ Webmaster GothicDot |

well, the german version wasn't very good either as far as voice-acting is concerned. the main character (i.e. you) seemed VERY bored with the job and delivered his lines with a kind of nonchalance that was really annoying at times. hope that guy shows a little more enthusiasm this time around. |

I agreed, compare to other games i had played, Gothic 1 is less stable. I hope these time around they would put priority on stability issues, performance optimization, user friendly control system and interfaces. Off course that don't mean their should ignore everything about dialog & voice acting aspects. _________________

Well at first i have to say i really am addicted to gothic....but i have to agree
When i played the game for the first time and i was promoted to guard i was soo proud i thought: MUAHAHAHAHA I AM THE MAN NOW!!!!!
I thought they would have some more dialogues and that the shadows would say more now you are a guard and so superior to them...but nooo the only thing they said was for gomez that was disappointing...
i really hope they fixed this.....but excluded that it is a superb game and i am still replaying it _________________

The problem with lots of varied dialog is that after it's written, the devs have to pay someone to record all the voices, and that doesn't come too cheap. _________________ "Tree stuck in cat. Firemen baffled."--Simcity 3K

correct me if i'm wrong, but like 90% of all the voice acting was done by the gothic dev team. _________________ Muds Dog
