your character is actually able to defeat quite a few opponents early on.

immersiveness is still a great part of the game (sitting on chairs, drinking/eating/smoking, NPCs who chat with eachother and perform chores)

however, like the original, the NPC background chats become really repetetive, perhaps they could have more variety of things to say!

combat is slightly more streamlined

monster AI is more entertaining

Damn, it's just great to be back in the world of Gothic again! I was going "YES!" right at the start as your character talks to Xardas. Absolutely wonderful to be back 'home' as somebody said earlier, after all this time.

I have only one bad word about this game, it's damn ADDICTIVE! Just like Gothic 1 was I did fooled around with demo, but this is so much more and same time i'm glad that it's not too different that the first one was, thank you Pirate guys, you've made us happy. Couldn't have spended my money better than i did with this. Absolutely great game 10/10 is my count for this

Could some native speakers comment on the quality of the voice acting, please?

For a computer game, the voice acting is very good but not brilliant.
But the things they say are excellent. 10 out of ten for the script writers (Piranha Bytes), 8 out of ten for the actors.

OMG I cant stop playing...

Get this game now, get it imported or whatever you need to do...

It's just like Gothic 1 only bigger and better.

The voice acting is good, but a lot of times it sounds like they used the same guy to do most of the voices...

but it can be easily overlooked

About voice acting: Yes, it's generally the same dozen actors over and over again.
You wouldn't normally notice it, but they gave each actor entire groups of characters to perform. So one group of people in the same part of town ended up having the same voice.

How's the German voice acting?
I hope it's as great as the english voice acting was in Gothic 1. Otherwise I'd have little hope in Gothic 3 being any good, since it'd probably be as much of a rushed job as Gothic 2 is.

The voice acting is quite good but not spectacular. As has been mentioned, actors have been recycled a little too often and the delivery of the lines is slow. I've never been a fan of the protagonists voice.

But there's a good attempt at a variety of accents and demeanors so the people take on a genuine personality. The writing is solid but not perfect. It's the ability to give the NPCs character that makes it succesful, overall.

Delivery varies among the voice actors. Generally, they're ok but on the slow side, as if they're speaking to someone fairly dim. It's the rather wooden, quite repetitive dialogue which grates more for me.

We could have done a better job of the translation

Holy crap i'm loving this game.
I played for 5 hours straight and didn't even know it (argh, it's 5am!)

The game is sweet. Espically the enviroment design. Way better than games like morrowinds.

Some little details i coulda used though, like sitting down? (or did i just miss the control to?)

Some things i think are neat:
Bleeding when your hurt, it's sweet, i can write some stuff in it too.
Animals actually do things.

I was crossing this bridge and a highwayman tried to make me pay, so i killed him and went across then i met some scary animals so i was running back to the otherside and BAM a lurker was eating on the highwayman, so i was trapped, i jumped off the bridge and into the water below. That was just one of the coolest things i've done.

I must say i'm enjoying this game even more than Gothic I.

German voice-acting was excellent, just as the voice acting in G1.

Decent, the voice actors did a good job. Like the English version the German one only features 10-14 voice actors and you'll notice/memorize familiar voices sooner or later. However, I still think that this approach is way better than only having voices for key characters. It definitely helps the atmosphere.
