Anyone remember how to ally with both T'Rang and Umpani?

It's been well over a year since I first play 8. Unfortunately, my Win98 crashed when it attempted to load the Ascension Peak module, so I left and went on to bigger, but not better! Anyway, I've returned on my "new" machine with XP and Wiz has run beautifully. I've seen and heard things that I missed on 98, and remember how much I liked this game. I remember reading earlier that some folks had figured out how to ally with both the T'Rang and Umps. Does anyone remember how you can accomplish this?

It's great to see people still alive on this forum. I see Otter has been throught 20 times! Wow! I've probably started 20 parties, but few have even made it as far as Arnika.

Thanks for your advice.

Loading AP may not be Win's fault: if you don't have patch 1b or higher you'll never get in there.
For the alliance:
1. Don't complete the last mission for either side.
2. Have at least 2 of the final artifacts.
3. Go to the Wilderness Clearing part of the Southeast Wilderness.
