I think it has something to do with the buildingstyle (also called gothic ) that was used most in the medieval times. |

It can also have something to do with the socalled Gotic-novels. In those novels there are many medieval dungeons and castles. Those novels where very populair in the end of the 19th centurie. |

But Gothic-novels were more like the first horror-stories. You can't call Gothic a horror game. |

Well it isn't horror but it keeps you in suspense. Close enough? I mean the people then were scared if you even talked about an angry god, so horror _________________ Want to become a vampire? a warrior in the battle between vampires and werewolves?

Well isn't that an other thing that made the game so great? That you were scared to go in a cave, turn around a corner , afraid of what or who might be there. the not knowing anything. That is just what gothic2 was missing. _________________ Want to become a vampire? a warrior in the battle between vampires and werewolves?

Gothic as such does not relate to horror movies or books in any way. It's simply that some writer or whatever wrote a book of that style, named like it, and atfer that every moron publisher and critic and whoever else started to call and relate the word "gothic" with that style. Gothic as such is really a style, used in medieval times, and in a way most easily relates to that period. You read the title and immediately your thoughts go towards the swords, platemail, knights, dragons, magic.. |

The game has nothing to do with those goths (I think). Besides they aren't that bad, I had a friend wich was goth and I knew his goth friends and nothing wrong with them.
According to me the name of the game has something to do with the medieval build style or the gothic-novels. |

The real "goths" have nothimg to do with the "depresses" and sometimes gay, people who like to listen to sisters of mercy and dress in ridiculous ways.
The real goths were divided into Visigoths (from the west) and Ostrogoths(from the east) and were germanic tribes that were also responsible for the fall of rome, and settled on almost all europe thereafter. Since this game is from germany and has a real goth feel to it, i think the name is adequate
