how to: "beat him unconcious"
   

I have a small problem, when i get a quest where i need to beat a person to unconcious, I just kill him, and nothing happen, what do i do wrong.

Use your fists or a sword. Of course you shouldn´t deliver the finishing move when he is on the ground.

Yeah, just keep kicking while he is on his feet; when he falls on the ground just stop.
And ofcourse, there is weaponery which can't kill(a bug?), like some axes, or hammers, so if you can't judge when to stop, just use one of these
