Sleeping in guild halls?

Took me awhile to try this, as I d/l'ed a basic Balmora house.

But the problem is this...I'm a member of the mage's and thieve's guilds, advanced a couple of ranks, in good standing. But anytime I try to sleep there I get the "resting is illegal" message. I thought you were supposed to be able to rest up in your guilds...was I mistaken, or am I doing something wrong?

You have to find a bed in the guild halls to rest. The benefit of sleeping in a guild hall is that you won't be reported if someone sees you using a bed.

Already Found the beds, I should have specified that. Clicking on the bed gives me the same "illegal" message.

Erk. Really? Hmm, then I have no idea what it could be. My character is a member of the mages guild and she's able to use the beds downstairs in Balmora with no problems.

In my experience you got to Use/Open the bed - not press T to rest.

I may be wrong but I have a feeling that's what he is referring to by saying 'clicking on' the bed.

My dearest friend and traveller:

thou art using the right commmands. BUT:

thou dost need to find the TRAVELLERS's QUARTERS. Verily, thou should not take thy rest in the very first room thee finds, 'tmight be the Guildmaster's rooms (or mine!)

Every guild doth have an area designated as empty, occasionally labeled "hostel" or the like. If thou dost find a room with empty drawers and unlocked chest, thou hast most likely found the answer to thy prayers.

I bid thee good rest and pleasant dreams,
SirVincealot
