I tried mining an ore nugget and it dosn't give me anything. I am thinking you can mine because I found a book that tells you that you can mine this magic ore deep inside a cave and make the best weapons with it. But do you need some skill or can you not mine at all? |

Of course you get no ore, it all goes to Gomez.
All kidding aside, you'll get no ore if you try to mine it. _________________ Freeeeeeedom! Thank heavens it's summer!

Rhetorical question. Now you know how the Old Camp miners feels.

The point is it adds background to the world. You can't actually forge magic weapons. The magic weapons aren't forged in the colony. They are forged elsewhere. There is someone at the bottom of the Old Mine who explains that.
As for the animation, the devs probably thought it was cool. _________________ Freeeeeeedom! Thank heavens it's summer!

Well, you can. Well, not YOU, but everyone else around you. Well, the diggers and scrapers anyway. In fact there's a whole mound of magic ore within the colony and they're hoping to use its magic to blow the barrier wide open.
But you gotta be a scraper for years and years to dig that magic ore! _________________ Erb Duchenne |

Actually, I think it was a bit more than that. If you fool around with the cheat codes you will find that when you look at NPCs, they are assigned a list of tasks for times during the day. Basicly, every NPC is a character just like you capable of doing everything you as a player can and vice versa.
If you wanted, you could proably live out the life of a digger/scaper in Gothic, but it would be pretty boreing. |

Well, if you need ore to buy stuff from merchants, how are you supposed to get ore if you can't mine it. What are you supposed to do, plant an ore tree, and then pluck it from there?? How do I aquire ore? _________________ The circus makes the world safe for anarchy. |

to acquire ore is easy: you jjust beat the shit out of diggers and when you get stronger you kick the living hell out of shadows. and oh yeah the best skill in the entire game: lock picking you can gain a lot of ore and other stuff that way I even think it ain't possible if you're not level 1 lockpicker to finish the game I just finished the game yesterday for the first time and had a lot of help of this forum so thx you all _________________ Want to become a vampire? a warrior in the battle between vampires and werewolves?

Or for more fun and this works best for the Old Camp. Get Shrat to join up with you and Mud if you wish. Become a guard and get guard armor for all 3 of you (also note to lvl Mud and Shart to lvl 20 so they aren't useless and cheat to make their stats what it would be at lvl 20) Equip everyone with Guard equipment to fit each class of guard (heavy armor the best gear, medium less then so on) and just roam the camp with your crew. beat up a digger here and there because they didnt pay protection money. Insert New campers and kill them as if they were up to no good. make trades and so on just have fun. _________________ "It Takes Two To Lie. One To Lie And One To Listen." - Homer Simpson |

However, the level 20 thing can be accomplished more easily by bringing Shrat to some desolate place in the middle of nowhere (maybye the Orc Cult Place or whatever they call that) and possess ol' Shrat. Then, a few summoned monsters later, level! Summon the CH, use points, summon more monsters. Summon, kill, level, train. Repeat. Alot. Boomo, about 3 days later ya have a level 20 Shrat!
Oooooorrr... Cheat and make him level 20. _________________ I'm pretty sure the Monk's Quest has died by now. |
