Any chance you'll be posting any kind of benchmarks with the guide? Granted they would be for your PC only, but too many tweakguides have zero metrics and simply resort to "for improved FPS do this..." or "less stuttering do that...". They don't even indicate the relative impact of one tweak vs. another. Frankly I think if the guide authors did any sort of benchmarking they would find that some of the tweaks are outright harmful to performance - especially stuff in the [OpenMP] section and preload settings.

Yes, I am mentioning the fps in the article. I second your remarks about the .ini-tweaking, I will have some lines about it and that I, with the exception of very few values, do not recommend it, because I found it to be harmful instead of rewarding. I'll describe the most conservative approach possible, since I don't like to have more fps and less stability at the same time.

I suggest you should start my guide with a untouched ini (the one from your Oblivion folder). Letting the game generate a new ini by deleting the existing one isn't a good idea - Oblivion creates odd numbers in there that will introduce system instability.

Excellent! I'm definately looking forward to your article now.
That second comment is interesting - I did the delete ini (rename actually) but I didnt diff vs. the default ini in the Oblivion folder. The direct ini "tweak" I'm using right now is:
- Grass density (150)
- Removal of intro sequences

Thats it. Everything else is playing with the sliders. All other tweaks I tried were either harmful or insignificant. Maybe you found some though - looking forward to the read.
