Food for thought

Okay, I feel really stupid about this, but I've this er, problem, with my Arx Fatalis character... he's ALWAYS HUNGRY - and I just can't seem to find enough to feed the guy! The poor sod literally died, because I couldn't find enough rats to kill! Am I doing something wrong here, or is his insatiable hunger supposed to be an endearing feature of the game?? I'm early on yet, having just met Greu, but this "hunger" thing is really "gnawing" at me. Can anyone help this newbie?

Hunger and other bugs

You need to download and install the patch. The hunger and a lot of other really bad stuff will be prevented. You can find it by clicking on the "Latest Support Files" on the main index screen for Arx. This will solve his hunger and other problems you haven't even seen and don't want to. Have fun, this is great game.

Patch and Hunger

You will find your guy is still going to need food, but much less. If you eat a few big meals, say when you need to replenish health, he should nearly never ask for food. But is is good for healing you. Have fun.

Hmm, now this is really weird - I downloaded patch, but now the game won't start. I've tried uninstalling both the patch and the game, and then reinstalling both. And just in case, I disabled my antivirus program as well - still nothing. I'm pretty sure my Direct X is later than v8.1 that is required. All my other games are running ok... I wonder if anyone of u have had a similar problem?

Anyway, about the food element of the game, it's fun baking pies and stuff, but I thought it seems less than heroic to hv ur character going on about food all of the time, lol.

Won't start

Double check and be sure all the files were deleted. Is it that it won't do anything or is it giving a message of some sorts. Did you try to run setup manually from the cd? If you are still having problems, check the official site. There is more on installation there. url is on back of cd case. You can also email them using tech thread on this board. I am not to good with computers but maybe this will get you some help.

I've contacted the local distributor of the game, and he figured it may be due to my graphics card driver (will be checking if it needs updating). Thx a bunch for ur help though. Happy gaming!

Updates

Hope you get it fixed soon. This is a great game and has so many ways to finish and to do stuff. If you start a new thread with your specs. included and ask for help getting upgrades, I'm sure someone can help you. I see it here all the time. Good luck.

After you find enough rune stone, you'll be able to cast a " nourishment " spell to dispel your hunger. It's really funny when you're in the middle of a fight and the character says he needs to eat. Also, if you have to take time to eat, you should also need time to take care of other related business!
