As you might know, in the 6. chapter Xardas appears in the sleeper-temple and falls unconscious. If you leave the temple and teleport to his tower, you will meet him at his usual spot, friendly as ever.
How can this be?
Two Xardas? Which one is the genuine and which one is a betrayer? A split
personality?
What do you think? |

I'd say this is more like a bug that the developers missed. _________________ All shall hear the words of Karras...the words of Karras |

It can be a part of the characterization of Xardas.
If you forgot the Eye of Innos traveling to Dragon Island Xardas would send you a letter with the Eye. In the letter you are called stupid names.
Perhaps he abuses the hero to be an avatar of Beliar. The big questions is: what is Xardas going to do? There are things suggesting that Xardas only tries to get power for himself. But there ars ones suggesting that he still fights the evil like he did when he was a magician of the fire. _________________ Sorry, my website is in German. What on earth are you talking about? You can't exit the temple without cheats after you talk to Xardas and he falls asleep. And of course the devs didn't take any considerations on how the game perfoms WITH cheats!
The most frightening thing on the other hand is when you actually find dead people lying in a cave a long way from where they are supposed to be. That is simply scary :| |

Exactly. The gate closes shortly after you enter the last part of the underground complex.

Once again, bull's eye. I don't think there was another moment in the whole Gothic series that got me genuinly frightened like one of the northeren caves in Khorinis. As a matter of fact, I think I found a different person each time I played it over again. Spooky. They should do it more often. |

I know, the whole finding-people-in-a-cave thing really scared me. At least when I found people who were definetly NOT supposed to be there. Quite a bug really, teleporting people far away from their homes, and then killing them as well.. a major bug! |

i remember in my first save ever that i would find random dead people all over the place, always in a forest of floating in the water, at first i though, ya, the colony is a though place, poor guys
but as i made more saves and stuff, i found out you arent supposed to find dead people all over the place.......
i remeber once i was walking tru a plain, suddenly, a dead digger fell outa the sky...
i lok up in the sky, i saw a ledge and a orc falls down, i was like :" holy hell!!! run!!!" the orc died on impact though.
once i had a torn blade fall near me, i needed it at the moment, it was like innos liked me.... but then i found out that a few monsters spawned in the old camp and make people run everywhere and made me meet their dead bodys. thank god nobody importand died, and this happend before i even came into the old camp, it was funny, seeing a digger face down in the water, best thing happend when i came into the old camp
i walk in, i see everybody run and scream like idiots, i look around and see a mole rat next to me, i jump away, then stabbed it with my new torn blade.
i was alble to walk into the castle, where the trouble began. i saw all these bolts fly by and bloodflys everywhere, then i saw raven(didnt knew who he was back then so i just called him my hero) he killed those flys easely, everything calmed down, with me still in the castle, then, you know the ledge near the fire? i fell down, nearly died, i ran and healed with my berrys. then, at the place with fisk, i saw a shadow beast storming to the guys, if i could, id scream " bull!" seeing i thought it was a bull, it killed 2 diggers and nearly took down the baal. thank the guards with their quik bolts.
after i bought a nice digger set i though i could protect the camp from all the monserts which just apeared in the camp.... or so i thought i could
first thing i did with my new armor was try and wack fisk for my cash back, it worked, i had a nice collection of stuff, but had to run from everybody, i escaped, nearly dead...(as always) i though i was safe, till i hear this orc yelling, some how i made it into the orclands.... i died there, and when i reloaded my save, everything was "Normal" again, esept for all the bodys around, when you think about it, spawning monsters in the camp, trying to beat them off is fun, i felt like a gaurdian of the camp |

The dead people in caves i have seen, and it is a normal part of how the game engine works.....except the dead bodies "should" be deposited in hidden, inaccessible areas. In G2 there is a "dump site" in the minecrawler cave near the Circle of Sun behind a huge boulder. You have to "k" to get in there, but you can loot quite alot of stuff lol.
About falling things......I have only seen it once in Gothic. When you leave Cavalorn's camp and go to the orcish ruins(where the swamp dragon is in G2) there is a small pond on the left with a lurker. I was smacking the lurker around and an orc warrior fell from the cliff above, landed unharmed in the water, and forced me to run away screaming like a young girl in a frilly pink dress.
In G2 I've had falling critters happen many times at the cave entrance down where Lester is at the start of the game. They fall from the area above because they must see you and try to attack. My very first play in G2 I was standing at the cave entrance bracing myself to weild my trusty heavy branch against a few young rats when WHAM!!! 2 lizards landed infront of me, screamed a loud scream and died. I almost soiled myself lol. Since then i have had orc dogs, lizards and giant rats fall at the same place....luckily they all die on impact. You can climb up above the bandit cave(Where you meet the first bandit on the way to Khorinis) and see the area they are falling from. You can get a few goodies in the area too _________________ Chris: Dad, what's the blow-hole for?

Well, I really wouldn't fancy an orc landing on me. Luckily I never met one of those conditions _________________

Same, never seen it. Recently I've had another annoying bug though - the infamous dead-people bug in NotR, where every of those corpses that are supposed to be hidde in a cave somewhere end up lying exactly where they were alive. This is quite messy at times, and even though you get some extra loot from it, it ruins a bit of the gameplay, hehe. |

So am I understanding correctly, are you saying that when you kill someone and then later when the body has disappeared it hasn't really disappeared but been moved to an inaccessible location? |

No. What is being talked about here is people that should be alive but you find them dead.
This and other game engines don't have a way to transport someone to the next area when you have a load screen. What the engine does is "kill" the character and hide the body, then generates the "new" body in the new area.
When you "kill" a character the engine says OK, I don't have to draw that dead frick anymore and i don't have to hide him. But when a character is alive and you enter a new area that activates a load screen the engine says.......oooops, I just created this character here, so what should I do with the one in the other world......ok, I see a cave i should stick his dead body in and lets play. _________________ Chris: Dad, what's the blow-hole for?
