Leveling up the Paladin way

Let say, from the start of the game to the time you get in town, I always get around level 3 to 5 ending up with 30 to 50 LP. So, having in mind to become a Paladin, what you think would be the best way to spend these points?

Join the blacksmith to make swords. Then place lots of points in strength and either one or two handed combat. When you actually become a paladin, place some points on magic and save some to actually get spells.

You're a long way from that, in the first part of the game, you will only be able to use swords or ranged weapons, so focus on those first.

I feel that crossbows fit militia the best, but that is my opinion. I tend not to put skills in ranged weapons though. There are far better things to use points for, and you can kill anything with good melee skill anyway, without a bow.

If you are good enough you can kill everything with a sword. I myself did not like the bows/crossbows in G2. You shoot an orc 1 meter away and dont hit. In the beginning with a paladin i used one handed until i got my 2 handed to 60%.
At 10-30% the 2 handeds are too slow to use.

The magic is veeeeeeeeeery useful to fry orcs from a distance.
Heck, i killed the undead dragon with paladin spells.
