I've really zipped through a few previous RPGs, downing things like the BGII expansion in under a week.
I'm attempting to play only a few hours a day with Gothic, and I really want other new players to do the same. Aside from the fact that it takes you away from your computer for a good deal each day, the experience will be much more enjoyable and memorable...

Heh, lucky you...
I'm lucky if I can find the time to play Gothic for an HOUR a day. Time seems scarce now I work and have my own house, and fiancee and such. But still, I think its healthy giving some attention to Real World Issues around you instead of living in a fantasy world as I've done with EverCrack for a year
(played that for AT LEAST 7 hours a day, combined with work and sleep)
But I think you are right for the enjoyment of Gothic, not to play 16 hours a day. My tactic is to do some minor quests or killing when I have little time in mid week, and when I find the time in the weekends to go exploring and extensive hunting trips...
Just my two cents,

Hehe - I hardly find time to play for more than 2 hours a week right now. I limit my time at the computer in general, and most of it is spent scanning the web and writing news.
The worst times I had when Ultima Underworld came out. I even pretended to be sick at work to be able to finish it *g* |
