ShadowBane? Again...

Ok it's been out for a while now. I went back a few months posts to read what was said about it then...but now that it is out and has been for a while...what are your thoughts?

I just bought it...and I'm enjoying it. I don't like the camara controls or the movement but other than that it is shaping up quite nicely.

How's the actual movement really implemented in there? Is it really done so that you have to click on the ground to move?

I have never tried SB yet.

Yes...which isn't be so bad because you can click on your miny map for longer trips...it's made worse because you can't lock the camara view behind you or anywhere else. It is the only aspect of the game I don't enjoy. Here is what I mean. While fighting, after one creature is killed my guy sprints off to the next one...so he turns one way and my camara is turning all kinds of differnt ways...I don't know why it has to turn everytime my guy moves, but it does...now this isn't a big problem but everyone likes a certian view when fighting.

Ok I can see ppl are interested in SB...getting a lot of views, but no posts. Which probably means nobody has played the game. Why not!!?

It's fun...it is not, however, a gankfest.

You can play to your hearts desire on n00b island up to level 23 or so. Higher I'm sure, it would just take a while. Stay on n00b island and become comfortable, and a pro. Then after that, you can join a guild in the "real" world and play out there. You are very unlikely to be ganked out there either unless you go looking for trouble.

Anyway everyone knows the earlier levels of mmorpgs are the most fun, and SB is no different, but at higher levels the pvp "can" kick in and add, for me at least, more fun. This game is finally a breath of freash air in the genre and it's fun to boot. Graphic are actually nice and you don't notice they aren't AC2 caliber. The thing that matters (how your character looks when he/she dons armor) is good. Better than the other I've played [EQ, DAoC, AC, Lineage]

I'm not excited about this game bacause it's new to my collection and I haven't played it before. I started EQ the other day, after 1.5 years of not playing it so I really didn't know what to do. So it for all intensive propuses is new. But it was boring. SB is new but it is fun. Ok enough ramblin'.

Well, I tried it in the end of June, hoping it would have matured a little. I didn't renew my subscription after the free month. I'm sorry to say it didn't appeal to my own tastes. I know other people liked it, and the game does have very good qualities in some parts. The navigation interface is not one of them, IMO. The classes were nice, and I liked some of the skills that you could train at every level.

But the experience was so buggy... And, mind you, I can live with bugs. I can accept them, I'm not too difficult. As long as they are not crippling bugs, or show-stopper bugs. And this game (as of June) was still very buggy, and had lots of show-stoppers... Maybe this has changed by now, but for me the game didn't have enough effect to make me even wonder about it anymore. The game did not leave a particularily good feeling with me.

Oh, and the graphics were *ok* as far as character animations and armor went (although a lot of people ended up looking alike to me), but I wouldn't say they were good. They were sub-par for a game that came out in 2003. Compared to EQ and AC1 the game has good graphics...
