Question for Ioskeha(and other opinions on best story rpg

Ioskeha, you stated that in your opinion betrayal at krondor is the 2nd best story driven rpg of all time.

Just out of interest which game did you therefore mean is in 1st place for best story. It wouldn't be planescape torment by any chance would it?

Indeed it would be Planescape: Torment. PS:T is the only game were I went and looked for a dialog script for it so I wouldn't have to play it if I just wanted to read the storyline again.

PS:T for me too. Didn't play much of Betrayal at Krondor, but the NPC interactions and snippets of story I witnessed early in the game were impressive. My second place would go to Ultima Underworld 2.

Kotor ranks high for storys to me.
Planescape torment also.

Both of those had a story that I didnt expect at all.
They both also had a point where I looked back at all the time I played and said " no way, I wouldnt have thought that in a million years"

Having not yet played either BAT or Planescape torment (although I have BAT installed and PT on it's way from america) i considired the best story centred rpg's I have encountoured.

I thought underworld 2 was brilliant, particularly the incorporation of different planes and worlds each with there own unique creatures and societys within that world. That is the only story that left me really imersed in the game, to the extent that 10 years later I still think about how clever it was.

Baldurs gate(shadows of amn) had a reasonable story, but I would probably put the underated might and magic 6 story ahead of this, involving the devils.

Hopfully I will be able to add to my list in the near future

I'd have to say the best storyline i've seen ever, most succesfull and best voice acting ever would have to be the Legacy of kain Series, from Blood Omen to Soul Reaver, it has a remarkable way of making you feel meaningless in the true part you play in the universe.

Great news.............. For me at least planescape torment has finially arrived.

However it comes with a "bonus" game called soulbringer. It's a dual case with the 2 games in, just wondered if anyone has heard of soulbringer?

It seems to be linked so often with planescape torment, are they by the same makers, or very similar games?

Sadly i'm working all week, but I can't wait to get started on planescape.
