A major flaw in the final boss(huge spoiler).. |
|
Just wanted to let you know that both shrink and destroy undead works on the final boss. This means that you can buy either one of those scrolls, and kill the final boss in a single blow, no matter which class you are(you don't kill him with shrink, but he's harmless afterwards).
Shrink also works on the other dragons, black troll and so on, but most of you know that.. |

I find that this is something that I have often hated in other RPG, not being able to kill or enchant boss monsters with status effects or one shot kill spells. This way it seems a lot more, can I say it, realistic. Even in the old AD&D 2nd edition you could cast such spells on dragons and other powerful beings, the only thing you would have had to overcome was their magic resistance and maybe a saving throw.
But to be honest, I let the undead dragon either taste my sword (Paladin/Dragon Hunter) or I summoned others (Army of Darkness; cast several times) that let it get a taste of their swords (Mage). |

I prefer the boss characters being more "invulnerable" -- FPS-style.
In G2, after Chapter 2 had concluded, most battles became insanely easy. The only ones that required even a bit of tactical planning (i.e. hit 'n run technique) are when dealing with large groups.
If MY character has a ton of summon blahblah spells, doesn't it make sense that the bad guys ALSO have such spells, and actually use them? Like the Black Magician you fight before entering the final room. If he's the head of the Seekers, I'd expect him to have access to a large variety of powerful spells, and should have been a challenging fight... not one I can win in 3 seconds with a forward-forward-forward combo. |

So true, I never realized he was there until he was dead. I was killing
of the seekers from a dtsance with the banish eveil rune and apparently
I had killed the magician that way as well... _________________ http://www.morrowind.nl |

Well, that black mage never even saw me while I was doing that part of the game as Mage, since I just summoned 7 times the Army of Darkness which cleaned up that entire hall. Maybe it would have been more of a challenge if the fire based spells worked like they did in Gothic 1, there they were devestating if they hit your character. But yes, he should also have access to spells like Army of Darkness or Rain of Fire and there is also a lot which could have been done about the dragons breath and such, but I still think that every spell should be able to work on most every enemy (but not necesscarily with a 100% sucess rating, which does seem a bit unreal). |
