If you cannot wait until the full game... enjoy that...

I already posted that on another forum... So I copy it... It's a great trick until the real game comes!

«It's not a bug, but a trick that was already existing in Gothic: the mountains!

If you want to see more than the demo, go on Xandras'tower, jump on rocks, walk until you see ground and hear monsters (the lezards). You need to jump between two rocks, so you will fall smoothly without danger.

Of course, the game is not complete (anyway, we will all buy it when it will be ready in English ) and there are some incomplete ways and the majority of voices are missing, but you will meet a lot of new monsters and some other towns.

I found one where I helped villagers to fight bandits (on the chief's corpse there was a super sword).

So, until its release in 2003 (january?), enjoy this «bigger» demo...

[...]

Giant spiders, Orc Elites, Skeletal Gobelins, Zombis, etc... there's a lot of new -and dangerous- monsters.

Of course you cannot make a lot of quests with this «new» demo (the majority of NPCs are missing and there's a lot of empty houses), but you will see: the game is really HUGE! And full of creatures.

The only bad point: i spent more than two hours by trying to «come back» in the demo... impossible, there's no way. Also I didn't find a NPC for my Strenght... so I have a lot of super axes and swords... but useless.

So good hunting.
It's pobably the most generous demo I met...»

Damn you, PornCop! You stole my post! Anyway, congratulations on the find. I can only confirm now that love for acrobatics indeed pays off in this demo BTW, My favourite spot so far is the treasure eiland. Now off I go to find some lockpicks to open those chests..

An island? I miss that. I just saw that after the wrecked ship (the same than Gothic), just before the Swamp Camp, we are returned... to the game menu. Same thing on the opposite way...

Now I'm in a forest between three bandits, a scavenger, some «bees», two «pigs», full of «black dogs»... and an Orc Elite! I regret that I missed the guy for my Strength! (I have a lot of credit points and super weapons... ).

By the way, I spent a lonnnnng time trying to come back in the demo (for the NPCs)... Impossible. Same thing for you?

Well, I really enjoy my discovery (I knew that it was possible to do that! In Gothic I traveled on a lot of mountains... even outside the «map» )... but it's also frustrating: I can see more... but I can't really play! Ah, I'm impatient to get the real and full version!

You're right! I have tried exactly that three times before but died each time so I gave up, but now I tried again and after a few fatal accidents it actually worked. Ha ha ha, this is cool! Great find, PornCop!

To others, here's a slightly more detailed roadmap:

1. Go to the top of Xardas' tower

2. When outside at the top you will see a ledge on the pinnacle that is closest to the mountain. It supports the tower's "horns". Jump up to this ledge.

3. Walk to the horn that is closest to the mountain. In the mountain wall you will see a rather strange (deliberate, I'm sure) U-shaped ledge leading to the left.

4. Step onto the horn closest to the mountain (when in doubt, take the left horn). Now run and jump onto the ledge in the mountain wall.

5. Go left. Waaaay below you is Lester's 'secret' valley.

6. Walk until you reach the end of the ledge in the mountain. You may or may not hear the lizards PC mentioned (I had already killed them).

7. Now, in front of you you will see the two peaks (rocks) PC mentioned and only a bit closer to the ledge a rectangular piece of flat covered with grass. What I did was jump onto the flat area and from there jump between the two peaks.

So the demo may continue... for hours and hours and hours... In a world with only few humans... but a lot of monsters!

If someone finds a teacher for Strength in this new area... please tell me!

Yes either strength or dexterity... please!

So far the only way to gain strength is to pray (read: gamble) at a shrine, but I don't know if there are any on this side of the demo. Besides, so far I only gained +1 str for 100 gold and it looks like it only works once per player level.
It's easier to get life, I think I gained about 15-20 life at the shrine.

Man, this demo is HUGE! I just ran through a dark forest (beyond the farm with the bandits). There were roadsigns but I don't have a clue where I was heading because my weak little hero was chased by the entire fauna... skeletons, orcs, wargs, wolves, bloodflies and everything I did not notice in my ummm... haste. Needless to say the forest feasted on my corps. Oh man, there's nothing like a dark and unknown G2 forest, that's for sure. The atmosphere was... awesome. Great find, PC, great find!

I FINALLY FOUND THE WAY!!!

It was too easy... But I lost almost all my health... It's just after the Snapers: you simply have to jump on a house, then on the wall... and make a little jump. So I can come back in the demo.

I found the island too.

Yes, the «new» demo is really big. I almost explored all... but I can't fight the zombis, the skeletons and the orcs... even on rocks: they are all able to climb... and they are better than humans!

I have really good weapons... I hope I will find the good guy for that...

I spent more than 15 hours in exploration... Well, I can say that the Gothic 2's demo is now longer than Max Payne or even MOHAA!

There's an even easier way to escape the demo.

When you exit Xarda's tower, you'll eventually come up to the first campsite that has the 2 goblins and is near the first Bandit.

Turn right to where the cliff is, then take a left. You can walk right onto the cliff and outside the demo area.

I don't play much, so I haven't gotten far. Just walking around, basically.

And this also means that I didn't buy the full-german version.
I didn't even bother to buy a german-english dictionary, so I just forgot about Gothic 2.

PornCop: The island is the one with the shipwreck, it has a nicely conceled entrence to a cave with ttreasures. As for coming back into game, damn you are lucky or a good jumper - yesterday I was jumping at exactly the same spot from the rooftop onto the wall, but to no success Indeed it is not possible to sweem too far, the hero gets eaten by a sea monster - just before that as a warning one can hear strange splashes and scary sound, but the video showing the death by big fish did not make it to the demo..

Well, after playing for 5 hour in the "new" areas, I stop with it.. I really miss quests, and don't wanna spoil much of the world for myself.

Great demo PB, thanks.

That's great! I'll have to try. This way it might be possible to level in the new areas, collect stuff to make some good money, and then go back to pray at the shrine for strenght (save/reload/retry). And maybe a donation of 1000 gold at the shrine will allow for a +5 str 'upgrade', which woud make it feasible to reach 20 str or even better.

Maybe a "prayer for dex" is possible too, my patience at the shrine was rather limited.

If there is a english text file in the demo, then maybe there is one in the full german version to? Or maybe rather not.

Want 25+ strenght?

Me too :p [message edited after bumping into the shrine cap]

I'm all too close (19 str) but that where it seems to end. Grrrrrr!

Here's how to get to 19: First, get yourself money. 100 gold will buy you +1 strength, so if you want to get from 10 str to 19 str you will need 900 gold.

When you have the money, go to Innos' Shrine in the official demo area. It's close to the farm near the main road from Xardas' tower to the city, just after you leave the mountains.

Now here's what to do:

1. Save your game
2. Pray at the shrine, donate 100 gold
3. If Innos grants (sold :p) you +1 strenght then continue at (5).
4. No strength? Reload the saved game and try again (back to point 2).

5. So you got lucky: Now go to the farm (you need a bed) and sleep until the next morning.
6. After waking up, go back to the shrine and start all over again (1).

This will get you to 19 str max... at least that's where it stopped for me. From there on it seems the shrine will only heal the hero. So you're still one point short for using the better grade of weapons, but thanks to the increased strength you should deal more damage anyway.

- I told you I already found the island and the chests.

- Well, it's really easy too if you take the way over the house and the wall: all the ways go to the Old Camp.

- For the skills, we can raise several ones... but can we for the Dexterity too?

- Bye... I'm going in the demo!

See my post in the demo-spoiler topic for how to get unlimited money OR strength training. I say "OR" because each requires that you be a different person's apprentice.
