Warcraft 3 thoughts

Until recently, I avoided buying Warcraft 3: Reign of Chaos like the plague, but I couldn't resist...I had to see what all the hype was about. I thought that those of you who liked this game were freaks...I was thinking, "If you've played one RTS you've played them all...It won't be better than Starcraft or Age of Empires" I was wrong. Honestly, I don't know why this game is so addictive, but whatever it is, Blizzard did it well. ......but if I could sum this game up in one word: Wow.

I have to agree. I'm tired of C&C, Heroes of M&M and the like, but Warcraft and Starcraft have always been on my list of good games.

It looks great. But under it all it's a medieval StarCraft with an extra tribe. Star Craft was phenomenal in that each race had significantly different units yet the balance of power was even.

Obviously a lot of work was put into Warcraft in making it 3D and putting much though into equalising power in its units, but seriously it's taken so long I'd have expected something totally new and different. Yet it plays very much like Star Craft... medieval of course. Still...

I give it a low low rating. (Especially for originality)

Eh, judging a RTS game on originality doesn't make sense to me. Deep down all RTS games are the same. ::build unit, amass army, destroy enemy:: It's sorta like chess or checkers, you can change the way it looks/plays, but you can't change the concept. I for one am glad this game is like Starcraft/Warcraft, in fact, I think they combined the best elements of both and made it better. The graphics = awesome, and the gameplay is very fluid - all options on high and it runs like a dream, and don't forget they did try to add the RPG elements to the genre. This is definitely the best RTS game since Yuri's Revenge. This game just has the right stuff, I was a hater at first, but now I have repented.

EDIT: Also the story is probably the best since Starcraft, and the campaign missions are fun and interesting.

Wow, there are a lot of these posts. I liked Warcraft III, because of the interesting story, and the amazing cinemas. I especially liked the human campaign, and the ending was awesome in it. The ending cinema for the human campaign is my favorite. Sad, but very cool. *Sorry if i spoiled something...didn't mean too*

You could also say that Starcraft was Warcraft 2 with an extra race.

I think this was a good continuation of the series, I thought it had the best characterization of any RTS I ever seen, which of course lead to a solid story. And it had very pretty graphics.

Lol
Uh, wrong, dude...

Starcraft and Warcraft 3, are like apples and oranges (or something).
Warcraft 3 is an RPS (Role-Play Strategy).
Starcraft is an RTS (Real-Time Strategy).
There is a differance, an extremely large differance.
...
Play the game first...

Someone else (i think freakeaye) said SP is easy and custom game more difficult instead.

Personally i think W3 is very good game, good story, good gameplay, good cinematic cut-scene & such; it likely to be game of the year 2002 or most popular game. I mean so many people bought this game and play it.

Well, when playing a custom game, I can play in the same team with a computer, against another comp.

Do you like the other Warcraft games? Do you like hard RTS games? Then my answer is YES!

There is another thread "What the heck is the deal with Warcraft 3" (by Freakinaye) that got few posts on goods or bads of W3.

Anyway, whether W3 worth depend on much you love RTS. Also as you can see here many peoples who had played W3 said it's good game. Overall, games by Blizzard won't easily disappointed you.

Yes, I think this question has been asked (and answered) countless times over. If you want an RPG, look elsewhere. As an RTS, this game is very decent. I didn't like it, but the game is still very well made and should please RTS fans.
