World map and more...

Well , can i buy or find a map of the city and everything around it? i wanna explore stuff ...oh and i remember talking to an civilian, he told me i better get out of the city as soon as i could and not joining the militia etc.....so i thought...hmm good idea..i don't wanna join this place
is it like with Gothic? that you have 3/4 different camps/places you can join? would be great if i can just choose to ignore the city and not try to join and find something else....that possible?
