| I can't even start this game! |

I heard many good things about Gothic 1, so I went ahead and got Gothic 2.
My problem is that I cannot start the game at all. It says LOADING, PLEASE WAIT, then it verifies something form a CD (CD protection I guess), and then it QUITS, and thats the end. I thought that maybe its the CD protection so I went ahead tried both of my DVD-ROM and CD-RW - same effect, so its not protection. I also tried using (I don't know if its OK to say here, but I do have a legit copy!) a no-cd crack. That did not help at all. The game simply won't load! Here are my system specs:
ASUS A7N8X-Deluxe revision 1.04 motherboard, 1004 BIOS.
AMD AthlonXP 2100+ @ 2316Mhz @ 178Mhz FSB.
512Mb Corsair XMS PC3500 Dual Channel DDR RAM @ 2-2-2-6.
ATi Radeon 9700 Pro revision 3.0, with Zalman passive cooler.
30Gb Maxtor 7200rpm ATA/100 hard drive.
SoundStorm Sound.
nForce 2 LAN.
Antec 550W TruePower PSU.
WindowsXP Pro SP1.
DirectX 9.0a.
Latest drivers for all hardware (ATI Catalyst 3.4, nForce drivers, etc)
I do tweak my PC a lot, and I disabled many WindowsXP unneeded services in the background - maybe there is a service that HAS to run for the game to start? None of my tweak yet caused any problems...
I thought maybe this game does not support AA/AF, so I turned that off - no help!
Any ideas? I am going to take the game back really soon if nobody help :

EDIT: I browsed through forums and found out that some VDFS is casuing the problem. Maybe its the same here, I know that I have 512Mb of RAM, and my page file is set min 768Mb, max 1536Mb! I also tried downloading that newer tool thing, but it didn't help one bit - the game just won't start! |

Just keep starting the first time I hade the same, but after a cuple of times it worked...
