at what point should i enter VoM...

I'm lvl 13 right now, and use the orc slayer as weapon and light militia armor.
Ive allready tried to enter VoM, but i still find it too damn hard to face multiple orcs at the same time...
cant i do the paladin quest and gain the paladin armor without visiting VoM??
or can i buy a stronger armor than this light militia armor??
im getting the feeling im missing something here...

You don't have to face ANY orcs. They can be avoided. You can get better armor at the castle in VoM. There's a path on your left as you head into the pass, it avoids the orcs all together.

I have done everything I could before entering the VoM so I was lvl 18, when I say everything I mean everything. There was no monster left in the new world, not a single one. I could defeat the orcs at the entrance when they came in groups of 2-4. I cleared all the orcs around the castle in chapter 2 and in chapter 4.

mavhot, you don't have to take two or more orcs at the same time. I've cleared all the orcs from chapter 2, and only near the end when I was level 20+ I started taking pairs of orcs because I was tired of trying to split em.

Most of the time, you make sure you have ground already covered behind you (and thus empty of creatures), you wake up the orcs and run back. Stop and turn around when you hear at least one of em sheathing his weapon (metallic sound). NOT when you hear them scream because at that point they stop for a moment but will not walk away just yet.

Things that help are taking advantage of the line of sight. For example run behind a wall or a tent while they are following so when you turn around some of the orcs following will have lost sight of you while those closer will keep running to you.

As for shamen, clear the regular orcs first, so then you can run into the shamen to force him into melee, or close in and hide behind a tree or something to avoid fireballs.

I think starting at level 20+ I didnt bother side stepping anymore. Just slash forward when they raise their weapon and charge. THen use the sideways attacks which are faster, then maybe jump back a little , slash forward rinse repeat..

The hardest creatures you'll need to kill to progress are snappers. Every orc can be outrun or avoided.
