Half orc... hated it when they left them out of later AD&D (pen&paper) editions. They make nice assassins, and with a little luck they could get quite an acceptable Charisma/comeliness score...
Humans run a close second .

Half-Orcs are back... but they've gotten the shaft. A +2 strength is NOT worth losing 2 points of int and charisma in 3rd ed with all the strength enhancements laying around. Also, all they get is darkvision...

compare that to any other race's abilities. a +1 to hit and damage and darkvision vs...

So I tweaked 'em.

I guess their obvious disadvantages would make me pick'em in 3rd Ed. I'm the Champion of Lost Causes!

You could play Jaz, a proud and noble half-orc guard from the bordertown Lost Cause.

Half elves. Unfortunately, not nearly as cool as half-elves in Tolkien's world (or in MERP, for that matter) but still damn cool. Tanis Half-elven, minus the self-pity, is a heck of a character.

I saw this in a movie about a bus that had to SPEED around a city, keeping its SPEED over fifty, and if its SPEED dropped, it would explode. I think it was called, "The Bus That Couldn't Slow Down."

Also have a weakness for half-elves as I like fighter/magic user combinations. Doubts about elves from time they could not be resurrected.

If you like killing machines though half orc every time.

The easiest way around the cannot be ressurrected thing was not to die.

Compared to the fantastic super-powers elves got the penalty of having to play smart and avoid situations which hinged on the roll of a single dice wasn't much of a limitation.
