I'm on my way with a 2 member party. A Fighter and a Priest. When I left the monestary, both characters was level 12. They really level up like crazy. But I must say, that I have met some fights in the beginning I couldn't win, and combat gets a lot bigger issue in a 2 character party, but maybe later they will become powerhouses with no problem in battles! |

Well, I'm trying out a female faerie ninja. She's levelled up 5 times already and I'm still fighting noxious slimes. There's a lot of stuff she can't handle yet, such as lockpicking, magic, etc., but it's getting there. During combat she puts the opposition to sleep 50% of the time with her faerie stick and her high speed makes sure she hits first. She's excellent against one monster at a time but has a tendency to fall unconscious when surrounded. |

Yep, our small parties are much more vulnerable against bad alignments. Some reloads are necessary with this experiment. If you don't like the long battles in the first place, these small parties are defently not for you, only for "freaks" like us, who don't have anything better to do!
BTW my little party is level 15 and I have just left Arnika as the first destionation after the monestary, my priest are very close to the high level spells now, and my fighter has a body count higher than the USA use of dollars on military! |

Wahey, she got an instakill on a noxious slime! It takes long to get an attribute to 100 with such a fancy class, but levelling up is happening like crazy I usually have to win like one or two hard battles between levels. I have had to redistribute skill points somewhat, to focus on err, not focusing at all. Still have to make enough lockpicking to advance through some of the doors, though, *slaps forehead*. |

At first I used the knock knock picks/scrolls I could find/buy to solve my lockpick problems, now my priest can cast "knock knock"! with a high power level! |

Hello all. Im the guy that posted anonymously earlier.
Recently I tried a party like this
1 ranger
1 gadgeteer
1 bard
1 samurai
1 alchemist
1 mage
this team is reall cool cause 4 of them will be able to summon elementals. and the gadgeteer and bard make things interesting.
hmm i havent tried to play with anything less than 6 characters yet. ill have to give it a shot sometime hehe. |

I don't know if it's the ulitimate, but here's mine: Samuri, Valkyrie, Monk, Ranger, Priest, and Mage. Ok, I'm a magic addict. This group is tough early on, but if you've imported from an earlier wizardry, you have a 5 level advantange (more on that later). And how many times have you been torn between bless and soul shield with your mage? Or element shield and fireball with your mage? Or just wish you you had 2 or 3 fireballs instead of one? There are tricks to using this party. ALWAYS remember your combat enhancing spells (enchanted blade, etc.). When bedding down for the night cast any enhancement/healing spells you can. Why? Skill improvement, and your spell points will be back in the morning (this allows you to focus more points on fighting attributes when you level up).
Finally, for those of you lucky/smart enough to import characters, with magic users (espeicaially the mage), CHANGE CLASSES SEVERAL TIMES IN THE FIRST FIVE LEVELS. Why? once again magic skill points. The priests lightning spell is great, but they've got almost no fire magic when they get it. If you make them a mage for one of those first 5 levels, you can give them a fireball (and it is SOOOO nice to give them a pure attach spell realm early on - having those healing points in combat makes a huge difference). Give the 'mage' an acid splash and make wounds early on, you'll thank me for it when you get iceball and summon elemental.
The only thing I would have considered trading in is my ranger for a gadgeer. His Omni-gun (when I recruited one) was incredible (I didn't care about damage, I just liked how often he knocked them out). Plus, I was constantly relying on recruited characters to disarm my traps.

I did not have character with traps, lockpicking... ability. I did not hire NPC with this ability.
It is possible to go throught game without it - you can use magics or force to open doors. |

I'm thinking for the next go-round:
Fighter (for sheer muscle to protect the other guys)
Alchemist (for potions and long range, non silencable magic)
Bishop (Mage/Psionic) (for many spells)
Priest (for healing and defense, not to mention some high level offense)
Gadgeteer (for various defense/offense items and long range)
Ranger (to scout and long range weapon)
How does that sound to you guys? I was thinking then that I will gain a monk when i get the android and a valkyrie with vi.

Looks fine, but with only one melee fighter type guy, you'll probably have a hard time defending all the others. Its also interesting not to have a mage. Both a gadgeteer and a ranger may be a bit redundant, but may perhaps make up for the lack of a melee fighter (until you get RFS and Vi). As has been said, you can finish the game with any combination (my solo faerie ninja is just about to leave the monastery btw.), so whatever gives you the most fun..... |

give the ranger and the priest shields and put them infront of the weakers guys and youll have plenty of protection. just make sure their shield skill goes up alot. also summon elementals to help protect u as well. u will be able to summon plenty to.

Do not forget, that he said something about Vi. She will be good second melee fighter. |

Yup, but I also said 'until you get Vi and RFS'.... Doesn't really matter, you get Vi really soon. |
