I think I'm missing a patch maybe?

Hello everyone.

I finally loaded up my copy of Gothic 2 today and started playing. I have captions turned on and they are all in english as well as the small bit of dialog I've heard. When I clicked on the alchemy table without the proper stuff in my inventory, the voice seemed to be speaking German. Wa-wiff is what it sounded like.

I've searched but couldn't find a game patch anywhere except for one that specified it was for the German version, 1.30 I think was. Does anyone know where I can go to get the patch I might be missing?

Also, I have a terrible habbit of alt-tabbing out of games when I get stuck to read stuff on the internet but I couldn't seem to do it here. Alt-tab will minimize the game but as soon as I click on my brower window the game pops open full screen again. Am I just out of luck or doing something wrong?

Thanks a lot.

It's supposed to be without subtitles and the character says that sentence and several others when he missing some things needed to use the object.

You'll need at least a Lab Water Bottle to use an Alchemy table.

Thereīs only a small unofficial patch correcting a few translation problems in the UK versions.

Alt-Tab should work, or at least Alt-Esc or so.

I can hear it now. I must be getting old, or my speakers are craptastic. It's certainly not my fine understanding of German. =)

Thank you for answering.....

Not your speakers, some parts of the voice acting is fairly bad, although most of it is good.

Welcome to the forums!

Sorry if this is asking to be spoon-fed but do you have a link?

There is a small patch that translated the German text in the Journal to English text (plus a few other spellings in the game). I made it with NiCode help.

It is for the plain UK Gothic 2 v 1.31. It was for download here on this website somewhere. Been two years ago. G2text1.zip, it is the gothic.dat file hex edited in the English text for the journal entries.

Gorath, maybe your site may want to host it again. It is no longer there. I gave a link to reload it.
