Do you guys remember the floating doors???
And that place where you could see a cavern with a little light across a vast body of water? I remember struggling to drag a door to a point where I could drop it in the water and float to that point. Couldn't do it though...

Yeah, the Dracoid Ruins was my favorite area too. Battlespire reminded me of the ruins somewhat, but Battlespire ceased to interest me when I realized just how non-interactive the areas were. There simply weren't enough puzzles to solve, nor were the graphics as unique as LOL2's Dracoid Ruins. There was so much to discover in that area...

And yeah, the windchimes and the quaking earth were awesome.

So, what are your favorite memories from Lands of Lore 2?

Mine:

--Walking into the museum area. That was the area that hooked me into the game.
--Exploring the Dracoid Ruins (btw, there is a way to get to the area with sparkling lights. Also of interest is the secret area beneath the throne room--I never quite figured that one out.)
--Discovering the "secret" area beneath the savage jungle--the one with the stack ancient stones in it...and exploring the caves at the opposing end of the area.
--Getting my butt kicked by the flying Ruloi [in the citadel?]
--Not being able to open the hut in the Savage Jungle
--Exploring the City of the Ancients (and the alternate dimension with the towers)
--The spider creatures in the subterranean cavern!!!
--The room with the bridge in it right after you get chased by a boulder. Very gorgeous and atmospheric.
--The panoramic ice area in the Claw Mountains
--The tribe of furry people in the Claw Mountains (Btw, in one of the huts it looks like there is a secret niche or passage if you pull up the map. I never figured that one out either.)
--Alchemy and Ancient Stones. 'Nuff said.

Perhaps the greatest thing about Lands of Lore 2 was being unable to discover everything about the game. There are still many undiscovered items and secrets that I would like to find. I have yet to see a walkthrough which encompasses all of them, though a complete list of items in the game is available in some walkthrough (from people who hacked the items file to find out what items they missed the first time through). The game was very atmospheric, and filled with neat and interesting areas and fascinating environmental puzzles (not mechanical puzzles like Myst).

I would like to play another game like LOL2 sometime, but I doubt that they make very many games which are that surreal and stupendous. Its too bad it didn't sell very well... In any case, game recommendations are welcome. I really am searching for another game to fill my desire to explore new and fascinating areas.

What are my favorite LoL 1 memories?

1) Jakel and Geron/ Jeron (snotty, pompous smegheads, the two of them)
2) The Amazon tower
3) The Westwood stick

What are my favorite LoL 2 memories?

1) Luther (I still think he was one original and quite likable character)
2) The Dracoid ruins
3) The RuLoi

What are my favorite LoL 3 memories?

1) Jakel and Geron/ Jeron (so we meet again...)
2) The LoL 1 Remembrance Dungeon
3) Cabal and the disillusioned Cabal warrior

Beware Lol2 Spoilers

Hey Drakton, yes floating doors were funny, and there were at least 2 places where to use them. The last time you leave the dracoid ruins you need one, and you could also use another to reach a certain map area once you flood a certain part of the ruins, breaking a tube or something, not remember well.

And about that light across the vast body of warter... is the place that you reach when you follow the statue of Belial, where the statue fights and kills the giant snake. Didn't notice??? I assume you were busy watching the great movie and finding a way to leave that place at time

That statue moment was great, one of my fav memories, together with the whole ruins, the dracoid cemetary, was a very atomospheric place, with the wind blowing and moving those dry plants whirls. The dracoid temple and its minigames and the City of the Ancients with several very good puzzles.

As I said my head is now full of great memories about this game. Was great and I believe there is no other game like this one.

Yeah!!! One of my favorite moments was when I cut the chains to bring down the cell doors to build a bridge to cross the stream of water nearby.
The cavern with the light I never figured it out until Now!!!
Glad to find other lovers of this, I think, underrated game!!!

LOL2 has a definite cult following. The reviews of gamespot.om and gamefaqs.com would suggest that it appeals only to a certain crowd. Gamezilla.com also gave it a good rating. I definitely agree that it is underrated. The problem with reviewers is that they only review games based on their technical precision, not on their artistic merit. Gawd I'd love to be on the design team for Lands of Lore 4 (if one is made).

Without the old Westwood team I'm afraid a new LoL wouldn't be the same . Did you know Paul Bastardo (cool name, by the way), the 'Luther' from LoL 2, was the lighting guy of the film crew who did the cutscenes for earlier Westwood games, and Eric Gooch who was 'Seth' in the first Command & Conquer and Geron's voice in LoL 1, was one of the 2D graphics artist?
Ah, the good old times ...
