The cutscenes in gothic were well done, but I think it would have added a bit more to the game had they been just a little better.
BTW, Blizzard has a section of the company specially for making cutscenes, and it is actually larger than the rest of the company (I think) _________________ My Website........My DA Fansite

I've read somewhere on the g2 website that there was only one man from PB that made the movies in g1 and g2.
So I think there is no need to compare the work of an individual with the work of a whole departament that is specialized in making cutscenes. _________________ WORK ORC |

One man? Whoa, that'd be a full time job. In that case, I think they're of such high-quality that nothing else even comes close _________________ My Website........My DA Fansite

Damng staight! the cutscenes cannot be compared to those ubermade cutscenes that are specialized to do the most best onez and with alot of ppl. |

I bow too one man who has done the cutscenes. They're great. I hope they will keep it that way in the sequels. (I hope more sequels will come ) _________________

G1 and G2 cutscenes weren't the top of the cream, but they're good. What I also liked is that everything in those scenes is straight from the game: chars, items, locations.. So all in all, these all were quite OK with me _________________ Been there, done that . . . |

@Whailor,
Nicely put, "weren't top of the cream" i have even said this in other threads but recently i have been more curious, i played back each of the video cutscenes in the Bink player, which as previously mentioned is configureable, and they do look good (well they would when zoomed out as any video would)
even using Quicktime the quality is substancially reduced when zoomed in.
Reading the forum's video problems that arise for some players with low spec' machines, then i suppose it would be asking "too much" to show full screen quality video, so when trying to strike a level of acceptable quality, i agree also that "these were quite OK with me" _________________ Forever aches my wretched soul, for Chromanin locked in that dark hole, though crypted key i've yet to learn, he knows one day i will return. |

I'm surprised noone mentioned Westwood's cutscenes, when they were talking about 'the best'. They are quite good, and were the driving force behind some games (Tiberian Sun, for example). I completed the game just to see them all ^_^. Anyway, I think that the Gothic cutscenes are good enough, and there aren't that many of them so the game seems like one big movie. _________________ Join the RPGDot Shadows |

Westwood's were very good, but Blizzard's are the best. That's why they sold a DVD with just the cutscenes on it. _________________ My Website........My DA Fansite
