Lone warrior or guild?

Ofcourse i will at some point join a guild. and it will be helpful. But i like the idea of going off adventuring on my own. I know you dont have to be with the guild all the time. But being a "Lone ranger" would be really fun!

I think being the "Lone Ranger" will be more style than substance. Unless you are really powerful, you're not gonna be much on your own. Besides, being with a group is more beneficial socially and XP-wise.

I like to play as a lone wolf type when I’m trying to accomplish something, but when you’re just playing to relax it does tend to be more fun if you have guildmates to talk to. So my intentions are to join a large guild, but tell them up front that I’m joining mostly for social reasons. Some people take Guilds very seriously, so it seems best these days to discuss exactly what’s expected of you before hand.

i dont really think i will waste much time with guilds. like you said some people take them really seriously. I just want to go out advebturing. i dont really need a guild to socialise either, remember guys yous have a friends list that allows you to easily contact people online.

Well, I already joined a guild, mainly 'cause I think that in this way I'll experince more of the game - if I want to play a lone-wanderer I can always start a normal rpg.

I'll not only be in a guild, I'll found one. I'm a leader, not a loner or a follower. Besides, no one can host a raid better than me!

You're welcome to join mine. I'll even start you out as an officer. I won't release any information about the guild until after I've created a web site for it, though.

Guildmastership? I've previously always had only 3 officers. My first officer, second officer, and third officer. They're essentially considered the 1st 2nd and 3rd in rank. If I were ever to retire as guild leader, my 1st officer would be offered guild leadership. If my 1st officer declined, then the offer would pass down to my 2nd officer, and so forth. However, for WoW, I was planning on having one officer for each major class type. For example, one officer for all caster classes, one for all melee classes, one for all healer/buffers, one for all mage/pet classes, and one for all hybrid classes. I won't have the official plans until more information is released about the handling of clans/guild in WoW, but I plan on having 5 officer types. Although, it's possible I'll start with only 3.

I'll have a completely separate section of the web site available only to each class type, and a main part available to all members. For fun guild/clan events, we might have something similar to EQ's arena battles, where each class type will form a team and fight each other. It's an old tradition of mine. The winning class type gets to do a special raid only for their class type. (For balancing purposes, one other class type may be selected for every 3 persons in the winning class type.)

Anyway, it's hard to be specific about all the details at this point. I can only promise my guild/clan will be one of the best in the server. I'll choose the non-PVP server with the least amount of people in it. I like starting out with the least amount of competition. It's easier to make a name for myself (or my clan) that way =)

Besides, you wouldn't want to be guild leader. It's way too much work. It's not about having fun. It's almost a full time commitment, and involved more work than play. Being a guild/clan leader is serious business. Anyone who doesn't take the job seriously will either be overthrown or just won't last long before they have a nervous break down. As an officer, you'll be given certain responsibilities to perform. The higher the rank, the more the responsibility. If you only want to have fun, but just care about having a good "name" or "rank for yourself, then I could make you my 3rd officer, or the officer of one of the smaller class types, and you'd only have to spend an average of about 1 hour per day doing work for your assigned people.

I was mainly joking, I have no intention of being a guildmaster.I am something very similar in a project I am participating in, and I can tell for sure, that I don't want to be a guild master.
But as you have not mentioned anything about your guild (well, almost) I still haven't understood at least whether it is Alliance or Horde based, or even both. I think this is vital for 2 reasons. Maily, because if it is both Alliance and Horde based, I think that there should be 2 GMs, and then - I have hardly any intention of playing Horde so far.

WoW won't be like the strategy warcraft games. I'm pretty sure you'll need to play on the PVP server in order for people playing orcish characters to be able to kill people's human characters. If the player to player factions are anything like most other MMORPGs, then players won't be allowed to go around killing other players freely, just because they're a good race and you're a bad one, or vice versa. If this logic is the case, which I'm assuming it is, then my guild will welcome characters of all races and classes. My main will probably be a human, but that doesn't mean I won't allow orcs or evil races to fight by my side. Not much information has been released on the game yet, so I can't really tell you what all the rules will be for admitting newcomers into the guild. I can only say that there will be a code of honor in my guild, and that all members will be expected to have the capacity for maturity and respect.

There will be no GMs (gamemasters) in the guild. GMs are people who usually work for the CS department to provide in-game support. There will only be one guild leader, but the officers will be treated with the same level of respect and will be given a high level of authority within the guild. If there is player housing, we'll have our own guild house, and a special room which only the officers can access. We'll have a mandatory meeting (the officers) at least once per week, and so forth. It'll be fun, and anyone who joins can always quit. I'll start out only having mandatory events for the entire guild once per month. Those who have good reasons for not participating will not be penalized for being absent, but they will need to make up for their absence, usually by performing a short task or by completing an officer given quest.

Anyway, you just made me join your guild.
I don't know (yet) if I want to have responsibilities (the Guild officer place that you suggested me), but you might consider me.
As far as I have learned by now, I don't think that characters of different alliances can play in the same group. Although, guilds may be both Alliance and Horde based (which I am pretty certain of it)
Btw, I also plan on playing mostly human - I pretty much dislike all the other races (whith the mildly exclusion of Undead, as I very much like Sylvanas). I even dislike humans, but as there won't be high (blood) elves in, and naga as well, I can pretty much hope that the game will be a success, so they make an expansion, and add my favorite races.
