Question on Magic Guild Advancement:

I'm stuck as a magician in the magic guild. I'd like to get up to Warlock, but it seems it doesn't matter how many duties/quests I do. I just can't get an advancement. Anyone know what's going on?

Also, is there any way possible to join the Telvanni while still being in the magic guild?

Thnx

Do you have the necessary stats? In your status menu, scroll down to the Affiliations or Factions portion (sorry, don't remember exactly what it says) and hold your mouse of Mage Guild. It should tell you what is required statistically to gain your next rank. If you meet those requirements, then I don't know what to tell you.

If you hover the pointer over your 'mage guild' heading on the stats screen it will tell you what you need to advance. This includes both stats and skills. EX - 60 or more in int and will and 2 mage guild skills over 50.

Hmm, I have the skills and attributes high enough. I didn't put alchemy as one of my major/minor skills though. I think that's why I can't advance. Grr...Guess I'm quitting the magic guild and joining Telvanni house.

You only have to have 3 of the magic skills as major or minor skills. Then have one those three meeting the requirements. IE - one of them at 70 and the other at 2 at whatever number it says.

If one of your OTHER skills is what you are relying on - it doesn't count for advancement. Found this out myself.

Had Conjuration as an "Other" skill because I almost never use it, but it got jacked up reading books and doing some other stuff. So it was the easiest to advance to 70. Went to Ald'Druhn, talked to the chick and selected Advancement. She said I'd done enough, but didn't meet the reqs.

Went out and jacked up Destruction - a major skill - bam, advanced to Wizard. Tried the same thing with a minor skill when advancing to the next level. The Minor skill worked for advancement as well. "Other" skills just don't count.

Woe. If this is the case, my advancement opportunities in some guilds are sorely limited...
