Hello everyone this is my first post so I'm pleased to meet you.
The reason I joined this fine looking forum was to seek help regarding a sound problem I've been having with this amazing game, Gothic 2.
Sometimes when I load up the game I am deafened by loud echoing popping sounds which play at certain points in the game. The sound otherwise works ok but these popping sounds seemt o be louder and more piercing than anything else.
I have reverb turned off so it can't be that, but it sounds like a loud pop in a small enclosed room. But this happends in the open air, or anywhere really.
I'm using an Audigy SB card
Geforce 5200
512 DDRAM
Athlon 1900+
Windows 2000 sp4, but it also happened with XP pro.
Not using any anti-virus software.
Any ideas?
BTW I also had this problem with the original and don't have it with any other games. |

Welcome to our boards.
We donīt have much experience with sound problems, G2 seems to sound correctly on most machines.
The most obvious thing is of course checking the Creative Labs website for a driver update.
Then you can try the different sound providers. Maybe one of them works.
A few weeks ago somebody posted a fix for SB Live related problems. You should feed the forum search with the different names for SB Live, etc. cards to find it. _________________ Webmaster GothicDot |

Thanks for your welcome and your advice Gorath.
I'll update my drivers see if that works.
I have done a search of the forum for sound but it didn't turn up the same problem, except for someone who had too much reverb. I thought this might be similar to my problem.
It is more of a nuisance than a game spoiler and I seem to be having a lot less problems than some on the forum so I mustn't grumble. |
